What do you guys think about the Zlin 142, Lazer 200, and the Cap 10B?

Not that I will ever be able to afford anything more than a run-out Acrosport 2.

I got an hour of dual in a CAP-10C about 2 months ago (it was a "B", but the owner put a new wing on it, making it a "C"). Really nice. Not too extreme. Much more comfortable than the Pitts. He let me land it too. We did spins, hammerheads, a bunch of negative G work, et al.
I'd prefer tandom seating, but, hey, you can't have everything.
All-in-all, I'd consider owning a CAP-10C if I was going to have something along these lines.

The Edge 540 is a great airplane but Zivko isn't taking orders for them anymore.

Why did they stop?

I heard that they have so much other contract work (government?) that is much more lucrative it doesn't pay to build the Edge right now. I don't think they have closed the door on it but just don't have the time in the near future.

I'm going to have to hit the lottery and try to entice them to build one more!

The only thing that concerns me about aerobatics is the teeny, tiny parachute you have to wear. I think I'd wanna jump in one of those once (with a reserve, if possible ) just to feel OK about using it when needed.

I did a static line jump when I was in the Army (not at Benning) and I had to literally be pushed out the door. I'm scared to death of heights and am concerned about freezing when it came time to jump from an aircraft in an unrecoverable inverted spin, er sump'n. Of course ... that's a good reason to ensure I don't get the airplane too badly out of shape.

Snakum, my adult weight has varied from 210 to 240 lb, right now I'm 220. I jumped a T-10 round canopy a few times from a huey years ago. I think the T-10 is 35' diameter. Let me tell you, I hit like a sack. In six jumps I had one landing on concrete, and one tree landing. After that, I'm thinking "people think this is FUN??" It was VERY unpleasant, and I'll never jump another round canopy again unless I'm guaranteed a reasonable landing.

That said, I think most safety 'chutes vary in diameter, from 24' on up. If I had to bail (no helmet, of course) from an aerobatic plane with a tiny chute, I'd steer for water because a 24' canopy may kill me. So depending upon your weight, if you ever buy or rent a chute, get one big enough.

That would be correct. I was told (at the Zivko shop) that right now they just dont have the time to build the 540's with everything else they've got going on. They have NOT cancelled the 540 aircraft, it's just on hold for now. they are, however, still making the 540T two seater.

Well, whenever they want to get back into the game of building single-seat 540s, the Red Bull Air Race will be a great endorsement. In the one held over the previous weekend, Steve Jones flew in a 540 for the first time, and won. The upper ranks seem to be dominated by 540s.

The company was Aerosport, located at St. Augustine airport. Not sure if they are still in operation. A quick search on the internet - I couldn't find Aerosport's website. They might not be in operation anymore after the President of the company passed away from cancer a while back.
Good luck in your search - the Extra is a kick in the pants to fly!

Aerosport was bought by Galaxy Aviation to add to their other two FBOs, the main one is at KPBI and I don't know where the other is. The Extra sales operation move across the field someplace and is still there, but I don't know it's name.

That's what I did ... or rather I was pushed from a UH-1. :erm:

I know they have all sorts of new-fangled chutes for acro nowadays, but I seriously wonder if I'd have enough wits to push off and pull the cord without freezing up. I'd probably just ride the aircraft on in. Yeeee Haaa! :nuts:

The marmott comes from a hillarious photo of a zoo chick 'presenting' a large Himalayan Marmott to the camera, and he looks like he's grinning. It's funny as hell. I've photoshop'd all kinds of Marmott Scenarios with it. I don't have a website up right now or I'd link a few. I have a brand new FO Marmott with a hat and epaulets being held up by the HR chick. A new Network Engineer Marmott holding 'Networking for Dummies'. Stuff like that.

Unless I am on fire and can't control the airplane I am getting out. Of course at 500ft doing an outside push to level, not much chance to get out anyway. But Strong Parachutes Inc. do make nice seat cushions :}
