I can promise you we are flying those airplanes for more compensation and under a better contract than anyone else in the United States. I can also promise you if we were to get larger aircraft we wouldn't fly them for less than the industry average and because we have been more profitible than most majors I (and I believe most others) would vote no untill the rates were better than AWA's and CAL's. But untill we start flying mainline equipment for RJ pay lets keep comments like this down.
My guess is whatever regional you work for fly routes that in some capacity were flown by a mainline carrier somewhere. As an example: In the 80's UAL DC-10's did CLE-ORD, I'm sure the FO on the DC-10 was doing better than the $19.00/hour the SkyWest FO is getting paid now.
Besides since when is SAN-MRY or AUS-CRP a mainline route? Why don't you yell at some SkyWest guys for doing MKE-SLC or SEA-SLC, or a CHQ guy for doing STL-EWR, or a TSA guy for flying STL-ATL, or an ASA guy for doing LAX-SFO, or an Air Whisky guy for flying MSP-PHL, or a Horizon guy for doing PDX-OAK??? I could continue but I think you get my point.
You SHOULD be hoping this suceeds (causing ExpressJet wages to increase) giving other RJ operators more leverage in negotiations, thus presumably helping yourself out. You SHOULD be upset at Skybus and VA pilots for flying the same airplanes as some Majors for less. Everyone that wants this thing to fail is supporting the whipsawing of RJ pilots agianst each other and the continuation of overall poor compensation, work rules, and general treatment of regional airline pilots.
