We have about 2700+ on the list. The preliminary bid had ONT Captain going down a bit lower than #1900. We didn't even have enough FOs bid it to fill the required positions, so lots of FOs will probably be displaced there from their current bases against their wishes.

Basically, it's way junior. Most new hire FOs in the coming few months will probably be sent there, whether they want to go or not.

Not to discredit BigShotXJTdrvr because he may very well be correct, however the info he is speaking of is the prelimary bid results which were posted the other day. I would venture to guess that many people had not changed their standing bid by the time it was posted. I would anticipate the results of the real bid to be slightly different. It'll still be junior but I really don't see many involuntary displacements. Then again I could be wrong. A lot of people might also be holding out to see what other bases are announced since 2 more are allegedly being announced this week or next week. As to where the 2 additional ones are, that's anyone's guess.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully it stays relatively junior, for my sake. Will be applying there in a couple of months and I live 20 min from ONT.

Clean air?
Now thats funny.
Inland Empire use to be called Land of a thousand smokes by native americans years ago.
Define Clean air?
Lived in that area for the past 21 years..and the air is a tad cleaner at times, but certainly not clean air cept for a few chamber of commerce days per year!
Wish I could hold an ONT base..but the closest our airline has is PSP which is very Sr.
Freezing my cajones off in Chicago...

Displaced F.O's? I don't think that's true. It looked like some really junior guys who wanted it, got it, but I don't see there being displaced F.O's... They will probably have enough new hires coming online in the coming months that they will probably send them there to fill any gaps that they may have.

It doesn't matter how junior it went. Only 110 FOs bid it, the bid said 125 to start and who knows how many later. That's an initial deficit of 15 current and qualified that need to come from somewhere. Maybe a a rolling TDY if the number is that small, but maybe not-- a TDY costs the company lots of extra $$.

New hires will be sent eventually, but until you have enough qualified, the difference has to come from somewhere. And even if it's mostly new-hires, if they would rather be based somewhere else and forced to ONT that's a displacement... of sorts.

Who knows, maybe they won't publish a displacement bid if they figure they can get by with 110 to start, and just fill with new hires later.

You might be right, but I don't think a single person will be displaced there. Contract says the company has to either give you positive space to your trips for a year or pay you 2k to move if they displace you. So I would expect to see all of a few new hire classes go there. I wouldn't be surpised to see a vast majority of new hires get sent there as the base grows. At least until all 44 planes are on the branded side. IMHO
