come on.... think for a minute...... do you think starting up 24 stations.... ticket counters, check in machines, gates.... hiring and training many new workers there.... getting a web site set up and all the other TONS of IT stuff involved.... painting and putting XM radio in 40 some planes..... bunch of other stuff....

..... all this stuff is just free?

there are all these initial expenses to get going before a plane even took off...

I'm not an XJet pilot, but I think you guys have done a class-act job in your stand-alone operation! Was just in OKC and you guys looked great! Very professional! So I hope you reap the benefits of your investments (even though you're the competition). Good luck!

Stock price is up...Company just invested in painting and reconfiguring 69 aircraft, buying ticketing machines, gates, training all the associated personal, buying ground equipment etc. The company spent alot of money investing in the future....And as someone noted above, they're trying to make it a quality product.

Any logical person could have seen lowered profits coming, if this is a suprise to you then you're extremely short-sighted.

Just learn from Independence, don't make the same STUPID mistakes they made with this project - wish you guys luck!!!

Its only going to get worse as more money is taken out of the Cal flying and put in that branded hole. Also the delta flying being done for atcost in LA of all places will hurt them more.

Non Union is back!!! Dude, I thought you were banned. Ready for another time out?

The results posted are for the period from Jan-Mar. The good news is revenue is up even though there were aircraft not producing any revenue while they were in paint/maint to get them ready for the flying. I am not sure how many more a/c flew this year versus last year.

To illustrate my theory, if asm's are up 5% and revenue is up 1.5% thats not good news. However if asm's are down 5% and revenue is up 1.5% than it looks like maybe the charter work was doing ok. That would be encouraging.

The actual branded flying began in April. So the additional cost can legetimatly be looked at as startup costs for the branded operation. Much higher than I would have expected but at least understandable.

The question now is what happens once the flying starts. The info I have heard indicates that loads are extremly light meaning the losses will accelerate with each new quarter as they actually fly flights and generate operating expenses on top of the rents and startup costs they incurred last quarter. Unfortunatly for the employees management seems locked into a terrible strategy that will ultimatly put the whole company at risk. There will have to be big changes at Express Jet over the next 12 to 18 months. Unfortunately the employees will bear the brunt of this predestined failure.

define "exremely light" for a "new" airline that is in week 6 of new flying.

"predestined failure"....... how so?

Whats up with all the hate from the SKYW dudes?

Sometimes I think HelloNewman is the biggest flamebaiter on this board, and he certainly does not speak for all of the Skywest pilots. Most captains I've flown with have a good amount of respect for XJT. Having a lot of friends there I wish you guys the best of luck.

CRJ 1000 SKW Branded

Wait, isn't Skywest is thinking about getting 1000's and starting a branded operation to compete.
