I have a question about XJT training. My bro is starting there in a few weeks. He was told to memorize section C of the pilot training binder given to him when he was hired. What do you need to know on day 1? Thanks.

It's been a while, but I seem to recall being told by Mr. Kerber to memorize pages 39 to 110 for the first lesson.

Memorize all the limitations (Bold items)
and all the cockpit Flows

If you have this down before you start; you will breeze through training.

If you memorize all the flows and limitations, that will get you through 75% of your oral, and make sims and ftd's easy. If your feeling ambitious you can go to 145studyguide.com and buy the membership there. It's not spot on but most of it is pretty close.

All of the 121 stuff I studied for the atp written prior to getting hired didn't really help any.

Know the flows and the limitations/memory items down cold before first day of training. Make sure you know the flows for BOTH the FO as well as captain.

Limitations, Flows, Immediate Action Items if you get all that stuff.

Please, please, please learn your flows. And learn to do them at a decent pace. Then learn to do them with your eyes closed. Then with your eyes closed in a dark room. Then with your eyes closed, in a dark room with a blindfold on. PLEASE!

Not only does it make the initial part of training go easier, but when you hit the line on IOE it makes things go MUCH smoother if your flows are already starting to become second nature.

The same goes for the limitations and immediate action items.
