As a new hire whats the possibility of getting based in CLE and what is the time to upgrade? thx

CLE Base -- about 99.9% possibility

Upgrade Time -- When your seniority number comes up. Things are in a flux right now.

If you want CLE you will get it--- If you want something else its about 50/50 between EWR and CLE

If you want CLE you will get it. You will also have a line within a couple months of completing IOE,but you will still be in Cleveland. Have fun.

Wow, I thought newark was going most junior... and I thought most growth was in IAH. When did cleveland become the low-man base? I hear cleveland will be stagnant soon.

When will folks realize that things are pretty fluid when it comes to what base is the most Junior. CLE use to be the most Junior, then it went the most Senior during the flowback era and now it's swinging back to being the most Junior. A new hire might have to sell an arm to get IAH right now.

As for Cleveland becoming stangnant, it'll become stangnant the same time the rest of the seniority lists grinds to a halt.

CLE is the smallest, which has advantages and disadvantages. After about 6 months of telling myself I lived in CLE, I began to like it alot. (then I left)

There is alot to like there, challenging flying, great summers, always an inch of snow on your car after a trip (at least) great people. If I could have talked my wife into it we would be living there now (and soon commuting to EWR)

If you want CLE or EWR, you'll have no problem getting either. If you want IAH, well that's another story. You'll just have to stick it out in CLE or EWR until you can get back to IAH if that's what you want. But getting CLE or EWR should not be a problem at all.

Remember one thing: BID WHAT BASE YOU WANT, NOT WHAT BASE YOU THINK YOU'LL GET!

I have heard rumors saying that hiring has stopped, will stop, will stop for a month or 2, will really slow down.

I do think the 64 a month thing is done, and they have a huge back log of resumes. But out side of that I really have no clue.

They are waiting to see what CAL does and they are slowing so they can catch up on upgrades. It has slowed down but there is more hiring to be done so dont loose hope. We still are getting planes and loosing captains so hiring will continue it is just slowing down right now.

Yeah, it only snows a few times during the summer up there!

Did ya hear? Summer fell on July 4th last year!

Another old one...How do you know it's summer in Seattle? ……………..

(the rain feels warmer)

Time to Upgrade? HA HA HA!!!!!

I have to go change my pants. I just pissed myself laughing.........

Well, genius, figure somewhere between 6-7 years and never.

Quick Question

Are they still hiring at 600 TT and 100 multi, or are they making the mins. higher these days (fuloughed Indy etc....)?

The mins are 600 and 100 but probably wont get hired unless around 1000 and more than 100 multi at least for now anyway. Or from a bridge program.

Unless something big happens within the nex two years, we are gonna be sitting in the right seat for a loooong time, might as well get comfortable...

Bridge program? Please elaborate

Kent State University has an Ab Initio program with ExpressJet that brings in selected graduates at lower minimums. Basically these selectees are guaranteed an interview if we are interviewing.

Students who've completed their Instrument Rating are interviewed by representatives from XJT (usually includes XJT Line Pilots). (there's a GPA and may be other requirements that I'm not aware of). If selected, the rest of their flight training is completed in a different pipeline and instructed by XJT Ab Initio CFI's (folks who have completed the Ab Initio program themselves). At some point they need to also complete an internship with XJT prior to graduating. A few of their college classes are specific to the EMB-145 and taught by a XJT pilot. After graduating they are suppose to become an Ab Initio instructor for a year or so to instruct the next generation.

They will then be considered for a pilot slot at XJT if they have something like 600/100 and we're hiring. They will then be interviewed just like the rest of the applicants before being given the job offer.

Obviously it's a lot of hoops to jump through and the 600/100 benefit is pretty worthless when they are hiring others off the street without the Ab Initio benefit with the same flight time. But when things slow down (which is starting now) it could be worth it's weight in gold. Lately XJT has been taking the Ab Initio CFI's before they complete the required 1 year of instructing to be fair to those folks so they don't get passed up by non-Ab Initio folks off the street with similar time. It seems once they get past the initial interview by the XJT representatives they are just about guaranteed a slot as long as they don't screw up along the way.

There's more to it than my above discription but you get the idea. I believe that there might be other non-Ab Initio agreements out there too.

Heard interviews stopped in May. But new hire training is in effect. We have to catch up on Captains for now so they take up most of the training facilities. Upgrades for those who have paid their dues, for new guys it remains to be told. CLE or EWR you will get. IAH was expanding, but for now has settled, may be some time. CLE lines suck ass even for some senior lines, but oh well as long as you're home.

ROCK!

list

According to one of the crew planners, they have plans on hiring thru August. But, all those plans change way to much to predict anything.

just wanted to thank the Jetlink-er who "picked it up" from .74 to .75 into CLE the other day.

'preciate it!

Are you serious about the ugrade time? 6-7 years? at X-jet?I heard a rumor it was like 18-24 months

Strange thing happened today, I recieved a call from Angela at ExpressJet requesting a updated resume', if I was still interested in working there. The strange part is I applied way back in December via AirlineApps.

It never got as low as the rumored 18-24 months and the way things are looking now we probably won't get that low. We have a goofy seniority list since the flowbacks left and we started hiring. It goes from 4 years seniority and jumps to 1 year or less so it's not very linear and somewhat deceiving.

So, why the sudden rush for hiring now? Is it because CAL is hiring and they are pulling guys from XJT?
