Hey guys,

I just ran into one FO who said you guys now offer the second F/A jumpseat (when installed/available) to pilots from all 121 airlines. Is this correct? Thanks a bunch!

The F/A jumpseat is only available to XJT F/A's and pilots. However, if you show up and there is an XJT pilot he can take the F/A jumpseat and free up the cockpit jumpseat for you. Feel free to kindly ask us just in case the jumpseating XJT pilot doesn't realize you are trying to get on as well.

***Also this F/A jumpseat is only installed on the 145's. So no lucky on the 135's.

What Auburn says is absolutely true.

The FA js is available only to XJT FAs, CAL FAs, and XJT pilots, in that order. Your FO buddy was misinformed.

If you need confirmation, ask the XJT js coordinator. Oh wait, that's me... never mind.

Not knockin the policy as it got me home(in the aft JS), but how in the hell can ANY CAL employee(pilot or FA) get on before an XJT employee on an XJT airplane.

It does not work that way on my airplane. I take OUR people FIRST! That's the way CAL works and that's the way we should work.

Well I trust upndsky since he is our JS coordinator on what the order of boarding is for the aft JS, but I think that policy is stupid. I know it was a deal between us(pilots) and our FA's so I guess they had the final say on who got the aft JS first. Their union is very weird, they turned down the same charter guarantee as we got(90 hours) and a 14 dollar over ride supposedly because they didnt negotiate it, it was what the company offered and they felt cheated, or something along those lines(maybe cheated isnt the right word). So they negotiated something even better right, nope-80 hour guarantee and 5 dollar over ride. Who knows how they think.

First of all, I agree that the FA union is dysfunctional as he!!. The FAs had the opportunity to get unlimited jumpseats on our aircraft a while ago and they squandered it. So this worked out in our favor. FAs get unlimited jumpseats (including the 135, which they didn't get before) and our pilots get access to the FA jumpseat.

The agreement about letting CAL FAs in the jumpseat prior to XJT pilots was one of the conditions. In all fairness, XJT FAs get to ride on a CAL FA jumpseat.

ATRCA and those who think along similar lines, all I ask is that you honor the system, no matter how you personally feel about it. It took a lot of effort by my predecessor (I'm not taking any credit for getting this agreement) to get this done. Please don't blow it for the rest of us. Once we get a little mileage under this deal, we can re-address these concerns. But right now, let's not rock the boat. If you have any questions or concerns, go to the crackpipe. You can contact me from there and I'll be more than happy to discuss this with you.

Its only CAL FA's, not pilots. CAL pilots get on that JS After XJT FA's, CAL FA's, XJT pilots, XJT dispatchers or MX in that order.

Baby steps folks. This was a big win for us that took 3 years. Upandsky has enough problem to deal with with the constant computer programing issues etc. Don't make him go to management begging to keep this benefit.

OK so a CAL pilot can ride the FA jumpseat? But only after our dispatchers and MX, so our dispatchers and MX can ride the FA jumpseat? or only our pilots and CAL FA's? So if my thinking is correct the order would go; XJT FA, CAL FA, XJT Pilot, XJT Dispatch, XJT MX, CAL Pilot. Is this correct?

The FA union isnt as bad as the teamsters for the FA's at TSA, one of the FA's asked me while I was there to help her find something in her contract because she thought she was getting screwed. She handed me a thing that was like 8(ok maybe it was 10) double sided pages. I looked through it and said, yep your screwed, that isnt even mentioned in your contract. It was pretty funny and sad at the same time.
