I was just watching the local IAH news and saw a blurb about the COEX crew who landed safely last week - minus a couple of tires. They were recognized today as "heros" at city hall or another such public establishment (the link has not yet been posted on the KPRC 2 website). These gentleman did an absolutely spectacular job to make the best and safest landing they could given the situation in which they were unexpectedly placed.

It is important to remember that as professional pilots this is our JOB. These situations, while no two are alike, are what we attempt to practice and plan for every day when we take the controls. The media cannot recognize the hundreds if not thousands of unusual, abnormal, and emergency situations that arise every single day in our skies - And the media of course fails to recognize every "heroic" crew that happens to be manning the controls when things take a turn in the wrong direction.

Congratulations to the COEX crew who was recognized for being there to do their job, and congratulations to all those crews that go unrecognized.

The city should pay off their school loans. You know the company isn't offering to help or reward them.

Rant complete.

Boy, you must be a real blast at parties. They did a good job and the media and government wants to showcase them. Good for them.

It is NASA's job to go to the moon and it is a fireman's job to save a person from a burning building. They all get recognized by people for doing their job all the time. As normal as you may think, they safely brought 40ish people back to earth after an abnormal situation.

There are pills that will help you feel better about life, get on some.

Actually at XJT crews who experience events like this are rewarded by the company. I've heard crews are given certificates for a steak dinner. I'm sure someone on here can deny or confirm this?

We are all heroes, every day. You guys should give yourselves a pat on the back and a round of applause for a job well done.

Here's to you, Mister Regional Jet Pilot, you transport ungrateful people in a cramped metal tube, for substandard wages and intolerable working conditions. So crack open a cold Bud Light.

Because nobody else cares.

I have it on good authority that after the obligatory interview and fill-up-the-cup, they were taken to a steak house and plied with food and drink by senior company leadership until the wee small hours. They were sent home and paid for the rest of the trip, and I know for a fact they won't be buying their dinner or beer for a while if I'm anywhere near them. I would imagine there are hundreds of us who feel the same.

I love working at Express Jet.

How pathetic are you to take the time to photoshop away at an avatar. I mean talking sh!t on a this board is one thing, but with you latest performance it is pretty obvious that you need to get laid son. What's the point anyways, you'll be banned in short time. Do yourself a favor and find a hobby like gardening.

Agreed. The job may not be perfect, but I do have a lot of pride in my company and coworkers. Cheesy perhaps, but its true.

Sorry, they did finish the 4 day. Listen to GS VM.

GS voicemail was in refernce to returning to their trip after meeting the mayor. The incident happened on leg one of a four day. I have it on good authority that they were taken out that evening for some liquid refreshments by the management team. They were paid and released from the original four day and the company also dropped portions of their next trip to meet the mayor. Expressjet Management does the right thing again. Imagine that.:)

You can't fault the 99.876% of ExpressJet pilots who are very proud of their company. No gripes here about the folks that are in charge on the managment side. They treat us right and get happy employees as a result. Chief pilots, directors, and VPs of flight ops bend over backwards for us while never asking us to bend forwards.
