Exodus from PHX Area After Super Bowl

Had to do Lauderdale last year, missed the first half. Experienced the goat rope on Monday and don't need to do it again.

Lucked out with recurrent this year but had the evening sim and missed the first half. No goat rope but missed half of a great football game.

Next year, I'm taking vacation (why not, I get 4 of 'em starting January 1.....)

SDL was a complete mess the day after the Super Bowl. The inclement weather in the area didn't help and PHX does not handle poor weather well (lack of experience I guess given that it is sunny all the time). Overall, I was not impressed with how PHX handled the traffic - they should have been better prepared IMHO.

I was at PHX and heard Glendale had someone in a piston land gear up. This was all on the 4th.

I got the double whammy of experiencing both PHX and SDL.

PHX: The Netjets and Swift operation was impressive....very impressive. THe PHX city ops were the thing that threw the wrench into the machine.... i only waited two hours for a poarking spot after being banished to East Cargo for 2 hours. ATC did a good job, but coulda improved the procedures, like gate hold telling AC to monitor ground for the taxi instructions instead of 300 or so AC trying to call fro taxi all at once.

SDL: 5 1/2 hour delays.....enuff said. That sucked. When did it ever rain in AZ???? Only when I got my fat ass in an airplane during superbowl week!

That may be so, or not so, but for us Die Hard fans who have stuck with them thru thick and thin, it was a Rochambeau, and a damned painful one, at least the bandwagon went from standing room only to seats available... Maybe this got me a little closer to my coveted season tickets! Ribbit!

On Monday afternoon the day after the game across the hill in SDL. After you get your clearance call 125.5 to get inline for startup so I did. Then I asked oh and by the way maam can you tell me where I am at in the line I am guessing anywhere from 50 to 100. Very good sir your are #75 it will be about 5 1/2 hrs before we get to you.

We would have been about 2hrs past our duty time even before the engines would be started so we whent to the hotel. We had to make alternate arragements for the pax out of another airport so they could meet thier commitments
