Anyone have any information on this company? Headquartered at ISP I believe. Working conditions, pay, etc would be nice to know.

Thank you.

Must be. They're always hiring.:p

I know three people that work there, and from what they've been telling me, they're expanding, thus the hiring that seems to be going on all the time.

The people I know that work there seem to be happy with it. One just upgraded a couple of months ago (about 20 months in the company at the time), and the other started earlier this year and will likely be upgrading by this time next year.

Just be ready to live on a beeper and find a way to afford housing in the middle of Long Island. I think first-year FO pay is thirty to forty grand depending upon equipment... And a Cap will be around sixty in the smaller jets. Don't hold me to the numbers, though.

Do they hire into the left seat?

A guy from Executive Flightways just called me. They pay 35,000-40,000 to start in a Lear 31/35 or a Hawker 700/800. Plan on being an FO for 1-2 years. You have to live within 1 hour of ISP. 8 days off a month, with 4 of them being movable. Per diem is $1.50/hr domestic and $2.50/hr intl (works out to like $35/day for domestic). There is a $5000 training deposit and a 2 year training contract for $18,000.

Sounds like an alright company for a single dude that can survive up on Long Island for 35k a year.

Hope this helps.

And no, they don't hire right into the left seat. At least not as I understand.

back about 2 yrs ago i interviewed with them and it was for left seat in a lear and the pay was 42k. didnt wind up there, but was impressed with the operation. VERY clean for a 135 shop. make you take a full written test and a casual hr interview. then checkride in the airplane with the cp. i was impressed with their professionalism. also.. with reguards to living, the area surrounding the airport and eastward is cheaper than westward.

35-40K on Long Island.....???

you will be living in a frigidaire box. maybe.

no wonder they are always hiring.

its all relative........... cheaper east and west of islip ............ i dont think the word cheap or inexpensive applies to anywhere that you would want to live on long island............i have friends who share apartments on long island ......rent on a "average" apartment on long island for a two bedroom is around 1200.00 or more a month .............. there are several "illegal" apartments to be had ......when i say illegal i mean that people rent part of there homes out ...usually separate enterance etc .... but even a small one room is around 700.00 /

if you are after jet time come to long island ....be aware there is nothing cheap about it though .............. i ran into this false idea several years ago ...... i was in texas saw the salaries and thought ......hey not bad .................. if you are interested put the salary into one of those online calculators ...... it works out to 1/3 more expensive to live on the island ...and oh by the way ny has some serious taxes too........

EFI (Executive Fliteways) is probably one of the best run 135 operations in the country. And they are as professional as any 91 operation can get, if not more.

The reason for the hiring is because in the last couple of months they've added a HS125/700, Lear 60 and Lear 31 to the fleet. And there is a S76 coming on board in the next week, so the fleet is constantly growing.

A top name Fortune 500 company has their 2 G-4's managed by EFI, so you can be sure that they have to be something special to work that gig, as this company is about as tough on standards as you can get.

Anyone getting on board with EFI can be assured of working for a top notch outfit. Their Director of Ops as well as their training pilot are some of the nicest folks you could imagine. And living on Long Island is not as bad as some of you have made it out to be. Affordable housing CAN be had within 15 - 45 minutes of ISP. Just check with the locals to be sure that you end up in a nice area.

I lived in a halfway decent apartment on Long Island while as a student and on flight instructor pay...you just have to really do your homework and search around. Yes, bottom line is that it will be more expensive than anywhere else...but you can still do it and not live in some haunted house. I think it all really comes down to your other expenses, as well as your perception of what is "nice" and what is a "dump". If you just have the usual car/rent/loans/food combination, and you are somewhat of a frugal person....$35/$40K is definitely survivable on Long Island. I did it for 5 years, making much less. I think people just hear horror stories and the rent and taxes and don't even give the old college try. As a matter of fact, I plan on moving back there (home is home) as soon as I get some seniority and better schedule at my current 121 job...and again...I am not making anywhere near $35/$40K.

And on a side note...I have known several people who have worked for EFI with mostly good report cards, minus the little grumblings here and there that you get at any job. Happy New Year.
