I would think that the company would move guys from the back of the 10, (240 S/Os for 125 lines?)to the Boeing before they would consider hiring again. Can they do that? I guess I better spend more time in the contract.

That's what i've heard about ABX, that they have a huge number of whores who could give a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** about the furloughees, but at least some moved up one seniority number today. I heard that they fired the 767 F/O today and did the Wackenhutt escort to the front gate.

What happened?

I am one of those DC10 S/Os, and yes we are currently overmanned, but not by as much as numbers make it appear.

First, there are only about 230 S/Os actually flying the line. Many are "pay only" as they are in upgrade training, with more soon going into upgrade training.

Second, a good percentage of our S/Os are Age60 guys who have like 40 somthing days of vacation a year and sick and disability banks with 600+ plus hours that they either use or loose.

The DC-10 may not actually go away as fast as people think. If the economy goes gang busters and/or Fedex stops DC-10 to MD-10 conversion in favor of much cheaper A-300s we may actually wind up short in all seats.

We are probably about 25 S/Os fat right now. Many of us were nervous that they would excess all seats on the last the bid(Nov). As it turned out they filled Secondaries in the capt and fo seats, and with those upgrading from the back the seats we should be roughly even by the spring.
