I am thinking of making an excel file, and list all my students on it, to keep track of a) who my students are and b) what I've done with them on what date.

Anyone else do something similar to this? Any suggestions on how I could set this up?

very good idea. i used to have to look at their logbooks before pretty much every flight. terrible memory.

wait. what was i saying?

oh yeah. i agree. choose the blonde.

My FBO uses Logbook Pro Enterprise Edition on three computers they have. One of them is strictly for the students to maintain their logbooks. This allows me to call up their logbook before they arrive to prepare their flights and I can oversee the entering of flights to make sure they are doing it properly. It's a great tool as when they get their ratings, we just create a backup of their data file and give them the floppy. They then buy Logbook Pro and continue with their flight logging.

I personally added text fields to my Logbook Pro logbook and keep track of my students progress, names, etc. That way I can reference the information should I ever need to, for whatever reason.

HTH

Interesting idea with Logbook Pro. I nor my FBO use it.....
I'll see if I can keep up a training record in EXCEL or ACCESS first .
