I've found myself with a string of long overnights in Newark. Any tips on joe to get into the city cheaply? I heard there was some sort of crew discount for the train. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Last I remember the air train to Manhattan was pretty cheap. The time in Manhattan...not so much.

Enjoy!

It's cheap to get into Manhattan. But unless you are real good with the transfers and hit the times correctly, it will take a while to get back to EWR. The train itself is quick its just getting to and from that train...depends on where you start and end.

If you are REAL cheap, you can take the #62 bus from EWR to Newark Penn Station, then take the PATH train to 33rd st in NYC. Definitely cheap, can't promise you'll enjoy the experience. I recommend a cab or town car back if you're out late. You can wait 45 minutes in the searing heat underground for a train after midnight.
