EWR Sucks!

Methinks it's more of a means to an end. I'd still take it over La-Garbage but that's about it...and I'm a native...as it were.


Now...if we could condemn Elizabeth and put into place 2-3 sets of paralells...that would be win...win...win.

Imagine all the spare rooms in Rahway Prison with Elizabeth leveled!

Yep, and so does LGA JFK and PHL. INTL travelers must think America sucks when they get off a DL plane and see that terminal
 
To me, it's rather amazing how all that money in NY/NJ doesn't go as far as it should to make the airports there the gateways they should be. Yet there is money for two brand new baseball parks and football stadium???

Seriously, they should close LGA and EWR then expand JFK into an airport with eight runways-- 4 parallel 22/4s and 4 31/13s filling in the land around the airport...or getting rid of all the empty hangars north of 31R. It would effectively keep the runways in use to about the same with the three airports-- but efficiently using the freed up airspace. Additionally, use of high speed rails for NJ, Manhattan and LI would also help...

ATL, new runway; CLT, new runway; IAD, new runway; ORD, new runways; FLL expanding runway; MCO new runway (few years ago); Panama City, FL, new airport; CUN, new runway

but NYC-- lets just keep it the way its been for 50+ years...

Nice, but think of the traffic congestion. BQE and Belt to JFK is horrendous as it is!

NYC needs separate ports.

That's kind of like picking between having your kneecaps or shoulder dislocated. In reality, they both suck beyond all belief. As has previously been stated, all of the Northeast airports are pretty much a complete disgrace. At least JFK did finally replace the International Terminal a few years back - the old one was sub-third world.

NYC is like having your kneecaps dislocated. ATL is like having your shoulder dislocated. LAX is like having your elbow dislocated. DTW is like having your nutsack dislocated. MIA is like having your hip dislocated. IAH is like having your neck dislocated. DFW is like having your big toe dislocated.

They can all be a PITA, but I don't think there is any comparison between any Northeast airport and DFW, ATL, IAD, ect.

DFW and ATL are both showing some age, but they are WAY ahead of LGA, EWR, JFK, BOS, PHL, and so on. Just my opinion, but I'll position through any of the former before I will the latter given the choice.

DTW is a special case - should have been great (at least the terminal, the runways/taxiways are still a mess), but instead it's goat-rope. Instead of building a new terminal for everyone, they built one for the "favored child" (NWA). Now they have one terminal that's way to long (McNamara), and the old crap terminal that should have been dynamited twenty years ago. In all honesty, they should have blown up the whole damned airport and started over fresh somewhere else.

They just opened a new terminal for the "non-nwa" folks in DTW. Its not great, but its also better then the old terminal.
