I flew the Evangel when I was in high school. I was 17 years old and had my private license. The mission that my parents were with JAARS had one in Colombia. They would let me out of school to fly with the airplane. I would load the bags and help with the fueling. The I would get to fly the airplane from the right seat. It was my first real multi time. I also got to ride along on all the PC checks for all the pilots. I saw my first ice in the airplane crossing the Andes going into Bogota. My first real low ILS approachto very low minimums. And I saw some spectacular needle ball and airspeed airmanship when both our vacume pumps went out at the same time. I also learned how to run a schedule and make things happen. At 17 I ate it up, not a bad way to spend your senior year in high school........ I used to live in Pilot Point, wouldv'e loved to have the Evangel up there then.
