So there shouldn't be a cost with trashing the environment? Should your local chemical company be able to dump their waste in the river if it runs through their property? How about if their factory is on top of the aquifer your town gets its water from? The cheapest solution is to just dump it in the ground, right? Your wife and kids might get cancer, but you'll save 12 cents on some product you buy. Can't let any pesky government regulations get in the way of that.

Okay... taking your quote at face value, I just wonder how you can live with being a professional pilot... helping the problem and all. So... my assumption that you are most likely a person of principle would lead me to believe that you would quit. I guess there's a bit of a cost with that.

Personally, I don't buy the whole "man made global warming" scam. The cost of this scam will hurt us all... and make people like manbearpig and his ilk rich(er) beyond belief.

I just think there needs to be a cost associated with pollution. A carbon tax or cap and trade are the free market solution. The less you pollute the less you pay. We can't go on with our heads in the sand pretending there's no limit to how much pollution we can dump into the atmosphere.

Quite a valid point actually. There was a website out there showing your carbon print by browsing the net. It's much higher than I thought.

Right on. In Europe, several countries have an eco tax which is nothing more than an alternative (tax) to fill big deficit holes. The tax sounds nice because the government likes to make you believe that they are working on an ecological solution.

Like the 'nam vets say in DC, love your country but fear your government. And that includes both sides of the spectrum.
