Hi,

I need your recommendations on what headset to buy for use in the ERJ.
I have been advised to buy Bose X but it is too expensive.
What about Lightspeed or DC ENC headset.

Any suggetions would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for all your help:D

There are numorus threads on this subject. Do a search for "headsets"
o something of that nature.

Good Luck

Thanks for your reply.

I did read the other threads but they talk about the headset that are goods in prop airplanes (with low frequency cancellation) but I don't know if one work better than the others in ERJ

My $.02

I use the Bose and am quite satisfied. I've tried several different options and the Bose seem to be the best.

I've used the earmolds and the Telex 5X5 - Too much wind noise and chimes were making me deaf.

David Clarks - The speak for themselves. Too heavy and too much clamping force.

Telex 750 & Ear Plugs - Not too bad, however, I can't really hear myself all that well when I talk. It's kind of annoying to me.

Sennheisers - Eat batteries and they really start to hurt with sunglasses

Bose - Not perfect, but for me the best option. They take out most of the wind noise. The mike does pick up more noise than other, but only 1 guy complained about it. Other people have said it's fine.

That's my experience. I'm very happy with the Bose. Well worth the money in my opinion.

What about the ANR jack that is in the ERJ??? Can it be used with a commercially available headset???

Thank you all for replying but I have one more question:
Does ExpressJet provide headset in the airplanes?
I thought I am supposed to buy my own set.

Do you people not have a headset from before you were airline pilots? Use that. I use my Flightcom Denali from when i was instructing and the thing works great in the ERJ. CHQ provides DC's in the aircraft, but I don't really want to use a headset everyone else has been breathing on.

Don't buy anything, use the companies.

Not a bad idea, save some room and weight in your bag. I did that for a little while until I got tired of the loose, floppy mic booms, the lousy mics that would fade out after 30 minutes until you switched to the other one (only to have that one fade right away anyway), the tinny, irritating speakers, and the big heavy ear seals. After one particularly long, hot day wearing the company headsets that sparked a nasty headache, I broke down and started using my own DC 13.4. They are still David Clarks, but the 13.4's are alot lighter, the speakers are higher quality so you don't have to crank them up as much to hear, and much more comfortable overall. And I'm more comfortable getting up close and personal with my own stuff, rather than the headsets that every other clown at the company slobbers all over during cold and flu season (handy-wipes or not!).

And I can't vouch for this personally since I've never used a ANR headset, but I've heard that they don't work very well (the ANR doesn't work) in a jet, so I'd save your pennies and skip that feature.
