Era hires mostly in-house, but not always - had a guy in my class that was a CFI.
We don't fly to a whole lot of destinations out of ANC. Currently we serve Kenai, Homer, Valdez, Kodiak and Cordova.
Last week we were finally sold to a new company called Seacor. The are only interested in the helicopter division. So, the plan is to sell the fixed-wing division once the operating certificate is split. According to the memo issued we are looking at 2-6 months before we get our final owner.
Meanwhile we are parking a Convair 580 on Dec. 31st and the 2nd on Feb 28th of next year. Once those two planes are parked we can't really even run or current schedule w/out more airplanes. Our VP is going to approach Seacor and hopefully convince them that we can't operate our schedule w/out more airframes. They will need to buy/lease at least 3-4 Dash 8's. For now your we all are just hanging tight and waiting to see what will happen. This final sale may be the best thing that ever happens at Era.
Cheers.
