It is important for the government and private scholarship funds to recognize the need for more minority pilots in aviation. There is nothing wrong with trying to promote equality by making the dream of flying available to all Americans. It is good that we live in a country where people can gain opportunities they would not have elsewhere.

Great. For starters, explain it to me. I know we need pilots, but why do we also need them to be minorities?

you're d@mn right! And it's your attitudes that have made us that way! Everyone thinks that because they swam the Rio Grande, the US owes them something now. NO, we dont need more minority pilots... hell you cant understand half of the ones on the radio now!!

Luckily, people like you are the minority and the reality is that America has many opportunities for people of non-white ethnic backgrounds to achieve their goals. Your attitude is so ignorant, I almost can't even stop laughing to take you seriously!

First of all, he said “minority” and race is only one part of what is known as a minority in the US. Others are Sex (female), religion, national origin, and if you want to go there - sexaul preference. But he just asked a question. If you cannot reply with an understandable comment, then maybe his point is made about your command of the English language....

But then again, I use to listen to the controllers in New York and I wondered if they could pass an English test...... One always sounded like he had three fingers in his mouth when he spoke. I could only guess that it was English.

Just a thought…

Now you're showing YOUR ignorance if you think I'm in the minority with my way of thinking. But hey, whatever gets you through the day.

Mojado, I respect anyone who speaks up for what they feel. I don't subscribe to the hate mongering that has ensued. But I want to cheery pick a little at what you posted.

Stating that the is a "need for more minority pilots in aviation." is indirectly saying that Mr. Whitie just can't do the job. That's like me going to Mexico for an example and saying that the government should pay to help me through college. After all, Mexico needs Americans to do their work for them. Doesn't roll off the tongue too well. I think that line was very insulting.

Maybe it was a rush to words, and what you would have rather said was, "Diversification in any aspect of life, whether personal, financial or professional is time tested and proved to promote greater ideas and progress."

Another concept I don't like is that offering a program to persons based on race, color, gender, religion etc. is considered equality. We do live in a land of opportunity that many don't have elsewhere. But remember that my great grand parents lived their life with their four children in a room not larger than 10'X12'X6" high. There is a price to pay for that opportunity. It hasn't been handed out until the past few decades.
