help. i am flying out of JFK on song to MCO next week (getting engaged) and am trying to figure out how to get an engagement ring through security without my girlfriend knowing i have the ring. i really fear that security will check me and find it right in front of her. anyone have any ideas???

If you’re not checking bags, bring a carry on, even if you have to buy a backpack. Then just hide it in the backpack. You should be fine. As long as she does not find it…

DO NOT put it in checked luggage! Something that important, with the way things go, will get lost by some idiot or stolen. Not worth the hassle man.

Just put it in your carryon or whatever, and put it on the x-ray machine when you go through security. A diamond ring isn't going to set off the the x-ray machine. I go through all the time, and a side pocket in my backpack I send through is full of lose change, probably a few dollars worth.

Careful....I did the same thing and took it on a carry-on and the tsa said to me "I see your getting engaged this weekend" I was just glad I was traveling alone.

If you don't already have or wear one, buy yourself a cheap rope chain which can be easily worn under your shirt collar, place the ring on it, wear it around your neck.

TSA won't even know it's there.

Wear a nice shirt and tie and your bride-to-be won't even know it's there.

Congrats!

It would be easier just to DTB.
that is a classic Hugh Jorgan line, i love it man...:D

Put it in your carry-on next to a small pocket knife; the knife will shield the X-ray from finding it, and since they never find those things you'll be safe.

PS: I am kidding of course... just taking a jab at how the TSA ain't doing what it says its doing.

Tie it to your zipper fly. Should the metal detector go off, as they wand you down and pass that area claim it was due to your Prince Albert. No TSA screener is going to touch that one with a ten foot pole. Figuratively speaking, of course.

So thats the key to smuggle weapons on an airplane, place it in your underwear and blame it on your Prince Albert!

Actually, that reminds me of a story I read one time. The book was from a famous Special Forces member, who had mentioned that back when they would travel into a foreign country on an airliner, they would transport their small handguns by placing them underneath their crotch. If the metal detector went off, and you got "patted-down" (remember the good days before hand wands!) NO ONE would ever pat them down in that area, thus allowing them to bypass security. Did many, many times, and not once got caught.

Do it like the drug runners

Put it in a ballon. Heck bypass the stomach all together, and stick it straight up your you know what. The anus inner linning is a great way to block the machines from detecting metal, just watch out for Bertha and her man hands.
I guess I might have to go to the penalty box now...
I think the carry on will work the best. If possible go through security at different times, standing in line all of a sudden say you have to run and get/do something.
