Can anyone tell me about Empire? I know they feed for FedEx and all their pilot bases, and what airplanes they fly. I'd like to know what kind of schedule they fly. Out-and-backs or overnights? Seven days a week or just weekdays? Long days or short ones? What do they pay? What do their F27 captains make? Are they a good company to work for, or do they "pilot-push"? Thanks.

when in doubt whup it out!

take your www.google.com and type in something like caravanpilots. There is a caravan pilots board and you can ask guys that work at empire.

Empire typically flies 4 to 5 days a week. A lot of there stuff is at night so an argument could be made that it's six days a week. When I was there I would start monday night and either get done on friday morning about 4 am, or sat. at about 6 am. They fly mostly locals. Fly somewhere at night sit or sleep for a few hours, fly back. Not sure of their routes anymore, things have probably changed in the last couple of years. Captains back then made about $40 K... maybe a bit more. I understand that conditions have improved there, but there were many times that I can cite that we were 'encouraged' to make a flight. To be fair, that was under the old managment. Understand also that they may be getting ATRs as well.

Hope that helps.

All above information is pretty close to being right on. Most of our flights are indeed at night, but if you fly in the NW it is pretty much all daytime stuff, out in the morning and back in the evening. Pay is around 43K the first year for Capt. and 24K for F/O's. All depends on what you are looking for: At home everyday :) Flying all night long  It's all what you make of it. the ATR's are already here. Hopefully that will answer most of your questions. PM me if have anymore.

Upgrade

To answer your questions, the upgrade depends on you, you would need 2500tt and 500 as a crewmember, if I remember correctly thats what I was told, the hard part is finding a route that would give you 500 in a timely manner. Most are about 300-400 per year. I just had a guy go thru recurrent training while I was there thats just been with the company for a year and he upgraded to Cpt. As far as pay, the caravan starts at I think 35 or 36k I could be off a little but thats the ballpark. Hope this helps.

Peace
