I've got to laugh when someone inevitably brings up French support for the U.S. revolution 1775-83. Do you honestly believe the French contributed because of their love for freedom, a sense of altruism? They helped for ONE reason only... to stick it to England. They couldn't care less about us.

Remember, France was a monarchy in 1776. They had no real desire to spread Republicanism, and were probably really hacked when the French rev. was launched, at least until all their heads were chopped off.

How do ya define the "safest" airline in the world?

Guarantee ya won't have an accident tomorrow?

Cpt. Underpants,
Regarding the Australian wine comment, F you buddy... You've obviously never tasted a good Australian wine i.e. Penfolds or Rosemount or any of our other good stuff... Either that or you wouldn't know a fine wine if it was smashed over your head :)

Also, whoever made reference to "QUANTAS"?? - shudder it's QANTAS. Please show the second oldest, safest and among the most admired airlines in the world the respect it deserves by SPELLING IT CORRECTLY...

OK, rant over, continue...

Qantas, is that the airline with the rodant on the tail?

Sir, there's no place here for history lessons. Please don't try to raise the quality of discourse. Please stick to poo-poo, feminine cleansing product, and phallic references.

You have been warned.

1. unusual operations make this thing a nightmare.
2. You have an extra 150 passengers with virtually no additional cargo space for high priced mail/packages.
3. Capacity flexiblity in unforeseen events makes this thing a no-go vs the 787.
4. 4 engines
5. How do you file an alternate that doesn't severly weight restrict this thing?
6. No quality track record established yet.
7. Would you really want to be a passenger on this thing the way NWA would configure the seats?

Interesting info.

However, #1 & #6 aren't necessarily show-stoppers.

The 4-engine issues is one I had considered-seems like a bit of a throw-back.

Has anyone looked into the alternate-airport issues? It seems like that would be one of the first things Airbus would determine before applying any engineering talent...

No, I wouldn't want to fly NWA on this bird. I flew NWA on their heavies 24 years ago to Europe. Six legs; about 30 hours of traveling...never again!

Exactly....and don't forget that the frogs waited on the sidelines until after Saratoga to lend a hand.....the surrender monkies wanted to make sure that we actually had a chance of beating the Brits before they were willing to get involved.

I heard Airbus asked LAS if they would modify there airport to handle the 380. Without any financial assistance either.

Those who are cheering for Boeing (as I am) had better be ready for some delays too. The 787 is the first commercial composite fuselage and is also bound to run into delays as well, albeit hopefully not the problems Airbus is looking at.

The evacuation issue on the A380 is resolved except typically oversized american passengers. It is a technicality that will soon be resolved. At least it won't be falling apart like the 787 (composite = decompose). There is no question France is the leader of the industry as previously stated. The French superior design will once again afirm itself and prevail over Boeing. Soon there will be more Airbus in the American sky than Boeings and Air France will buy Delta.

Actually, the evacuation rate of an Air France A380 with French passengers is probably pretty good....simply because the grease on their hair helps them slide out real easy and fast. It would slow down if they showered at least once a week.......fat chance there.

Boeing is needeless to say the far superior aircraft. Airbus can try with their little A380 and how many years delayed A350? But the 787 will rule along with the many other superior Boeing products out there. Soon Airbus will be coming to America in large quantities with their aircraft........as in the nice warm, sunny and dusty CA desert to park their planes.

An evacuation and a surrender are actually very similar. Both involve running away from things quickly; hence the better numbers with French pax.

Also when this plane hits the market it will already be obsolete.

Spoken like a true French Idiot! And HOW is it superior? The fact that you can't turn off the computer and take over if you have too...pilots don't actually have control of the airplane, they are just along for the ride! Yeah....THAT sounds like "Superior" Stench design!:puke:

That A380 is gonna be one big piece.

Not to be pedantic, but actually you can turn off the computers and take over. As far as I know, it has never been needed, which does say a bit about the flight control software.
