I have spent time in Dubai, Bahrain,Afghanistan, Kuwait, Israel , Jordan and Turkey (more Mid Eastern that European in my opinion) and have never had anything like that happen in any of them. Opinions are based on experience and I had my experience...the real funny thing I had a US Rugby shirt on and I'm a Kiwi!

As you know plenty of fellow Kiwis in this kneck of the woods...if you are thinking about a move this way...it has been a positive move for many of us...but clearly not for everyone.

Now back to the Kiwis...a la the Rugby World Cup...perhaps the greatest choke in sports history

Yea that was pretty bad....I had to watch the game with a group that was German and French in Ramstein. We'll see what the Blacks come up with for the Tri Nations.

I went to the one in Detroit. It was great. I even got an interview scheduled for June.

Are they not as fanatical about wanting Boeing or Airbus experience liked they used to? I had an interview lined up a few years ago, but decided to stay in the US. Wonder if I should get that application updated!

Working Overseas and returning to work in US?

A while ago, I remember hearing something about never being able to come back to the US to fly once you work in a foreign country.

Is there any truth to this? Specifically, working for Emirates, and coming back to fly for UPS.

I believe that due to the terms of a government contract to carry U.S. Mail, that UPS and FedEx have a requirement for the pilots to have been residents of the U.S. for the last 5 years. Other than that, normal rules of employment apply - passport or green card and the requisite qualifications.

If you are under 5,000 hrs total you are not qualified. Or I should say not competative. So if you go to the seminar don't expect them to offer you much.

I don't have a "source", just something that I remember posted on one of these message boards. I do remember, however that it the post said there was a 2 year restriction, rather than never.

What about passenger airlines that carry US mail? I don't think that they have a residency requirement for employment.
