A tornado warning was issued for Volusia County (Daytona Beach) over a half hour before the tornado developed, so there was plenty of warning. Comair didn't arrive till around a half hour, or later after the tornado hit, and after the landing runway was inspected and cleared of FOD.

The Tornado touched down EAST of the tower and terminal, so it never could have hit them. Luckily.

Just sayin.

I tend to disagree with you that they never could have been hit by the tornado. If you drive on the west end of the airport and look into the fields between I95 and the airport you will see a big tree in the middle of the field snapped in two and beyond that you can see a billboard damaged as well. I have lived in the midwest and am a surviver of two tornado's (up close and personal) and have seen them bounce and skip. So to say that it could not have hit the tower or terminal is just plain wrong.

No worries, I was just joking about the fact that when someone (me included sometimes) says something along those lines, they never fail to make the incorrect choice of you're/your.

Alright, of course they COULD have been hit. But they weren't, because it skipped between Deland and the Riddle Ramp. They were lucky.
