To the delight of many (I'm sure), ERAU Daytona was hit by a possible tornado (yet to be confirmed) today. Tree damage, roof damage, structural damage, and airplanes overturned/destroyed.

The damage path seems to be about 2 miles long, stretching from DAB to the Halifax River, with most structures near ISB sustaining damage.

Also a lot of damage out by Deland.

how is this delightful?
A lot of people don't like Riddle. To them it might be funny.

Not so much to some other people.

First hurricanes...now tornados...geez.

Damage is pretty bad. Lots of broken windows, roof damage, wall damage, most of the trees are down, most of the airplanes are totally destroyed. Hangars are totally destroyed.

Wow. Those poor airplanes.

On the other hand, Cessna will just have to build a few dozen more planes ASAP.

According to the chief instructor here at PRC, DAB only has nine operational aircraft remaining after this. The mailing list passdown said that they're going to try to get new airplanes by the start of the spring semester (Jan. 10th or so), but I have doubts about that one. Terrible...

Luckily, no one was badly hurt or killed. It's a sad thing to see all of those airplanes, which I've flown many times, thrown all over campus like that. Usually if a big storm is coming they have 4 point steel chain tie downs, but against a tornado I guess they are no match. Avgas and sharp metal all over campus too. What a mess. Guess I'll be looking for another job sooner than expected...

Here's a big Nelson HA HA for all the current students and alumni, that think they are Gods gift to aviation, who will feel the pinch in the pocket.

No offense Unreal. ;)

Normally I'm the first person to poke fun at Riddlers in jest, but anyone who takes genuine pleasure in this event is a downright scumbag.

well said.

this is not good at all I hope there are no deaths, hopefully everyone was home for xmas, alot of good people work there regardless of what yall say....

I'm sure they can buy, borrow, and lease enough late model skyhawks and seminoles for the short term...

My not all have the gucci blue paint and Echo Romeo N numbers, however.

Those of you owning late model Cessnas just rang up a few thousand dollars in gains....50+ off the market ASAP is probably significant.

this isn't just airplanes..... it looks like the whole mx hangar is trashed, its sad to think of all those tool carts worth thousands of dollars that the mechs bought out of pocket....

Wow, That's gotta suck for the insurance adjuster. I hope nobody was injured in this storm.

I wonder how fast they can rebuild their fleet?

I hate to say it but their planes will, most likely, be waiting to take off before the runway is cleared of debris. Insurance will take care of that. And if the insurance doesn't want to the fees students have to pay will.

If you couldn't tell. I dont like Riddle...

Yeah, the flightline and mx took the big hit. Theres general roof, wall, water, glass damage to the academic and administration buildings.

I am sure the underwriters were like.....

"Pop the champagne! No hurricanes this year...we can actually make a few bucks in the insurance industry this year!!! **Ring ring ring*** what happened? When? Where? How much? Oh well @#%@#%@#$#@....put that champagne away:( "

I am really sad to see this...I hate to see an airplane crumpled up like that. Hope they can figure it out for the new semester.

Wankel

You might not like Riddle, but I guarantee the hard working people who work at DAB would be very glad to be waiting for takeoff ASAP.

Maybe when they get the new planes they'll take the oppertunity to get rid of that ugly paint scheme and paint them like the Prescott planes!
