Embry Riddle distance learning classes

I was wondering if anyone out there remembers or is taking BA 201 or AS254? I am starting these classes OCT. 15. If someone could give me the lowdown on what these classes are like I would really appreciate it. Also any more hints and tips about doing this distance learning thing would be wonderful. thank you

Could you post the name of the classes? Maybe I could help you if I know the names of the classes. BA 201 sounds like an intro to business class...if so, is very easy, all self-study.

AS 254
Aviation Legislation (3,0)
3 Credits

Aviation legislation is a study of the evolution of federal civil aviation regulations in the United States. This course examines the past and present problems prompting regulation of the industry, the resultant safety legislation, airport development funding legislation, and international aviation legislation.


BA 201
Principles of Management (3,0)
3 Credits

Provides an overview of relevant management principles and practices as applied in contemporary organizations. Focuses on management theories, philosophies, and functions.

AS 254 is very easy but the book is extremely dry and you could run into problems staying awake. i will second the comment that the new web browser blows.

Ok...the management class was easy...just end of the chapter questions to answer after reading the chapter. Aviation Legislation was a little more work, I think a couple of papers on top of the end of chapter questions, but still easy. At least the Aviation Legislation class was a bit interesting!

Av. Legislation was 90% identical to Av. Law. Take it immediately afterwards....less studying.

Curretly taking both classes. Started AS 254 in Aug, just wrote the midterm last week, fairly straight forward/easy (provided you've read the material) There is no paper for this class, just the mid and final each worth 40% or your total grade and another 20% for "class participation". So far so good. I also just started BA 201, it too follows the same guide lines as AS254, no paper just the midterm, final and class participation. Good luck.

Just Curious...

Just wondering what ERAU is charging per class these days? These are correspondence courses you are referring to? I attended many years ago and just curious as to the increasing/staggering costs of education today.

I think it's $145 per credit undergrad, and $160 grad for distance learning this term. Main campus is up to $745 undergrad and $790 grad per credit and they wonder why enrollment is down.

Me thinks I am going to take some distance learning class over the summer.

My credit costs is about $536/hr including fees. Still that is a little bit of savings, and every little bit helps.

"Umm admissions... yes.... I will be antartica... thats right... so I going to need to sign up for a distance learning class... no this has nothing to do with the fact it will save me $1500 dollars."

Insane what these schools are charging. Yes, I would expect the enrollment to decrease due to the insanity.

The only problem is that enrollment is up If only we could chase some of the people away, I could find a spot after 8:00am closer to the school than my house.

How hard is the Aviation Law course? I am thinking about taking it next term online. Are there any other classes that anyone would recommend taking for Professional Aero? Thanks!

I would suggest taking something that you can always fall back on. If for any chance, God forbid, you were unable to fly, you will have an education you could rely on as a second job.
