well, if you beleive the rumors everybody has one in the paint shop right now.....

All I've heard is rumors though....

Hopefully none will. That is, if you have any hopes of of going to a major someday. Otherwise, enjoy your $85/hr, and thanks again for lowering the bar.

I believe JetBlue has a Firm order of 100 EMB 190's with an option for another 100 of them!

They need to stop calling these airplanes REGIONAL jets. A hundred passenger airplane, (or 50-70) for that matter deserves high pay and respect. This regional jet term is worn out and over used to bring down pilot wages. Lets see one of these outrageously high paid managers go thru all of the studying and training that we have. I doubt some of them would survive it. Sooo, we need to do away with this term and start raising the bar again as soon as we can. I don't think thats real easy right now but I for one am patient, and will not forget.

I love it everyone wants to raise the bar. Great, lets just raise it!!
This industry is on a cycle. usually a 10 year cycle and until 9-11 it was an up cycle. Now it's down, in time it will come back up and the pay will follow. Anyone that's been in this industry for a long time has seen it. It will get better and we pilots will buy bigger houses, boats and sports cars then guess what?
Everyone please listen, Be patient, it will get better for those who make it.

flyfastinmy10...I hope your right. The Industry will turn around, I hope your right about the salaries! back in the early 90's did they slash pay and benefits like they are today? just curious.

If you consider inflation when looking at pay scales, the industry appears to be on a constant decline with regards to pay. Of course it cycles up and down on a smaller scale but seems to be constantly trending down.

Much like the stock market, except trending in the wrong direction.

Didn't know JetBlue was a regional.

If you believe the analyists and the pundits, JetBlue is God's gift to the airline industry.

With that halo it doesn't matter what you call them.

I know Jetblue is getting the EMB 190. Can anyone confirm or deny the rumor I heard about Jetblue. The rumor is they pay for one upgrade. So if you upgrade on the EMB 190 they won't pay for your Airbus ugrade. Anyone?

You must have been snoozing. ALPA has already changed the names. They are now "small, small jets", "medium, small jets", and "large, small jets".

After brilliantly executing that maneuver, ALPA promptly followed it up by agreeing to fly "large, small jets" for 1st year pay rates borrowed from the Eagle contract. ($58 bucks in the left seat). At a "major" airline.

Guess you'll have to settle for half of what you wanted. Too bad it's the unimportant half.

190 a regional jet??? F-DAT

With the captain pay they're paying, they may as well be.

The lawmakers call this "Aviation Rape".

You are absolutely correct. Ask the high paid managment what they gave up in life to get flight training. Most of us gave up relationships, time, and lots of money. Remember the Fokker 100 and the BAC-111!

Remeber when pilot unions were run by pilots? Things should change. Theses neo-nazi union managment punks have twisted fact and terminology in their favor. They don't even know what lift is and they are trying to run a pilot union. Oh, and try to get the teamsters to call you back. HA! Good luck.

High pay on a low capacity bird is a non-stop flight into bankruptsy.

The only pay you deserve is one that is tied to the productivity (seat miles) your flying generates.

Same could be said of management as well! Your right, at these ticket prices and with fuel as high as it is, its difficult to justify pay that is too high! I know some market conditions need to change, hence the term "patience".

Too bad it seems that the regionals are going to be the place a lot of us are gonna get stuck!
It seems that most airlines realize that they can outsource everything including the flying to save a buck! Don't be surprised if you do see most domestic flying done by "regional" jets and the cross continent stuff done by the majors. Since the Majors are shrinking we might as get the airplanes then fight for the contracts.

Stuck? C'mon. Who's going to hold you down and force you to fly?

I've got a better idea. Let GW and the U.S. oil companies tap every inch of our soil for more oil. Force them to sell only to America and tell OPEC to put that in their pipe and smoke it.
OR
Accept the fact that oil has the industry by the short and curlies. Let Capitalism reign and weak airlines will wither and die. The strong will find ways to actually charge fares that generate revenue/profits while oil stays at $50 per barrel.

One hundred percent false.

There will be -- it is my understanding -- a two-year equipment training lock at JetBlue. So if you train for the EMB you wait 2 years till you can go to the 320, and if you train for the 320 you wait 2 years till you can bid the EMB.

New-hire training at JetBlue is paid. A rental car is provided (you share one with your sim partner) free. Your hotel room -- complete with a small kitchen -- is provided free. Your uniform is free. Your overnight bag is provided free.

And yes, when you upgrade from EMB captain to Airbus captain the training is all paid.
