Was just reading about the FAA's decision to extend medical effective dates for under 40. The article stated that they are grandfathering those who had gotten their medicals under the previous rule, even if it had expired. Has this already taken effect? I'm sorry if I'm out of the loop, but I'm active duty Navy and have been a little out of touch with the aviation community for the past year.

I ask because my 3rd class medical expired a couple months ago under the old rule and I'm wondering if I need to get it renewed, or if I suddenly have 2 more years.

Thanks

Disregard....just saw the sticky at the top of this forum and a call to the local FSDO confirmed that they did indeed grandfather those whose medicals would have expired.....guess I can cancel my appt next week.
