We're all fu%ked. Especially the regional industry is not designed to withstand this kind of cost increase. In about 5-10 years more than half of regional pilots will be looking for new careers as peak oil coupled with world demand will shrink the economic benefits of flying smaller airframes. What was once meant to be an industry to supply frequency of service at lower price will soon be replaced by the economics flying larger and larger airplanes with less frequency by the major airlines as the only way to control the cost of fuel per seat. Is there an oil bubble? Does the dollar by less oil now then it did a year ago? I think so, but I also think that this so called bubble will be negated in large sums by the comings of peak oil and global demand.

Sorry to hear this...have buddies over there. Looks like 35-40 RJs and and unknown of T-props. I bet you eagle guys are glad the flow agreement ended. Can you say big time bargaining with APA now?

Well look at the bright side. At least once they park them they wont need to hire anymore, therefore they wont be understaffed anymore.

a few of the RJ reductions could be the ones AMR gave to TSA/CQ for Connection flying out of STL....

I doubt that will be the case. Will be much harder to park those than AE. Parking AE will lower the bottom cost of AMR plus im sure TSA/CQ do it for cheaper.

Supposedly it will affect both according to the e-mail sent to us

Does the regional capacity reduction impact only Eagle, or also American Connection?
American is reducing its overall regional capacity by 10 to 11 percent during the fourth quarter of 2008, and this will impact both Eagle and the American Connection affiliates.

At least you guys got to fly jets. Some of us will never know what it's like.

CHQ (management) has been looking to get out of the 50 seat market for a while. They had already scheduled to get rid of their 15 135's that fly for delta this year, before the whole fuel price madness began. Bedford had said he would like to remove the AA connection 140's in the near future, and that statement was made before fuel went up, as well. Don't be surprised if 15 of those airframes are from CHQ.

What is the CAPT program??

A defunct flight school based out of Flagler Airport down in FL that Embry-Riddle kicked out and was later picked up by a bunch of rich people trying to make something of it. Last I heard they're trying to peddle their warez to the Chinese. Bad enough they ripped off people in the US, now they're trying to rip off the Chinese. Keeping great relations on behalf of the USA by taking a huge amount of their money for flight training you can get out of your local FBO.

The management I had the misfortune to deal with took my money and ran. Delivered nothing that was promised besides the certificates, which came at a VERY high price tag because their mismanagement delayed our training and we had to pay everything. After graduating their program, I owed so much money that I was effectively unable to financially make the regional career a reality. But hey! They got my money and I'll be paying for it for the next 14 years (done with the 1st year of payments at $1000/month).

I'd suggest you avoid any flight school that carries that CAPT brand. They got a team out in Dubai trying to rip off the Saudis with the same ideas. But at least we're all paying $4/gallon of gas for the Saudis to afford the kind of price tag CAPT is asking for.

With 460 hours you have a long way to go anyway.

I gave up on the airline career...moved on to something that actually pays money. I am thanking CAPT for this privilege in life; smashed my dream of a career in aviation.

I hear the microsoft flight simulator program makes pretty cool jet sounds. And playing it is probably much more worthwhile than working for a regional airline.

I'm sorry you got screwed by CAPT, but did anyone try and warn you ahead of time? I remember when CAPT first started and the sentiment on every message board was overwhemingly negative regarding that program. I remember reading more than a few multi page threads about CAPT back in the day and it was pretty much regarded as an expensive shortcut. The most successful cons are always ones that exploit our own greed and selfishness and you got taken by the aviation equivalent of a Nigerian spam email. Anyway not trying to be a d$ck I'm sorry you got duped. At least you can serve as an example of what not to do and educate those that come after you. A lot of the newer guys tend to ignore the wisdom on these boards when people say don't go to Go Jets or don't work at Mesa and some guys think they are smarter and that they know better than those that have BTDT. Okay enough of my soapbox.. rant over.

I think they teach that in Airline Management 101.

Most of us got into aviation because of our love for flying, with that management has taken advantage of that. Its safe to say we have all been duped at one point in our career because of our love of flying.
