Being asked by the bossman to put down a deposit for one of them real soon. Been studying up on them and there are real minimal differences in the two. Either way it won't arrive until at least 2007. Just wondering if anyone else has researched these and come up with an answer on which to buy.

Citation or KingAir, if you want it in this decade...

Why not look at the Mustang. Cessna will deliver on time and you know what you are getting. -Bean

Because the Eclipse or Safire will cost a hell of a lot less for a backup plane.

If you can wait until 2012, choose the Eclipse, if you want it by 2012, take the Safire. Either way you have a better than 50% chance that you will receive neither.

Just look at the shape that the company's developing them are in. If you put a deposit down, you will get the enviable task of explaining to the boss how his money disappeared (unless you escrow it).

I traded a cow for some majik beans once. Man did my mom beat the hell out of me.

A good spare plane would be a Caravan. It works good, never breaks and holds it resale value till the Eclipse or Saphire is ready to buy. Plus your boss will never take flying lessons in the Caravan to fly it himself...like he could or would in the Eclipse.

I'd put my money on Adam Aircraft's very light twinjet. The A700 may cost a bit more ($1.995 mil), but they have a conforming airplane flying right now, and it looks like it will be certified next year, versus the Eclipse 500 and Safire Jet, either of which won't be certified until 2006 at the earliest. Also, if you're going for price, don't forget that the price of the Eclipse and Safire are in 2001 dollars, so you have to adjust it for inflation to find the real price, especially considering what year your delivery slot is in (the next available Eclipse slots are in 2008 or 2009). Also, how long can you wait to take delivery of your backup aircraft?

I think we need to start harrasing motor trend editors and get a petition going for them to Compare the 3 Mustangs: a P51 Mustang, a 2008 Ford Mustang Cobra, and a 2008 Cessna Mustang. Hey, they did it back in the 90s, why not an updated one :D ? I wanna see which one does 0-100 better.
