I was at Oshkosh last July and saw the two Eclipse 500 jets fly together. I was amazed at how quiet they were on take off.

My question is: the company has sold a lot of these jets and deliveries are coming soon. A lot of fractional shares are planned for this VLJ but how successful can this business model be? I mean, when people show up for their flight, they will have baggage, etc., so how many pax will this jet really carry with full fuel? Not many.

I just don't see this jet successfully operating in this business model. Am I missing something?

Its not really a fractional operation but more of an air taxi operation where people use it as a daily or weekly business commute. I took a tour of the factory out in ABQ a month or so ago and it has seats for 5+ Pilot and a baggage area about 2 x 2 x 3. With a max gross weight of around 7,000 lbs your not gonna get it fully loaded with fuel and still go.

The way I saw it was the next Cessna 402. A nice little personal aircraft for a small company or air taxi that was good for shorter ranges.

Great; Instead of Dr.Bonanza, We are gonna have the sky infected by these things by none other than rich pukes(Lawyers,Doctors) with NO aviation knowledge what-so-ever going at 300kts.
