All good thing come to an end...
I guess, with the intensity and the vulgarity that was growing on Eaglelounge, it's demise was inevitable. SkyGod's insight is right on target.
There is animosity toward the flow-backs. There is also animosity from AA pilots toward Eagle pilots. Both are mis-placed. Unfortunately, AA and AE pilots have a common problem that we ignore like an 800 pound gorilla in the living room during a christmas party. You know, the one every one sees, but no one wants to acknowledge?
We have a management group that, while threatening bankruptcy, secures $660 million in concessions from APA, puts $45 million in a bankruptcy proof account to secure the retirements for it's top managers, while it is behind on its payments to the pilots retirement fund. We have a management group that enters into two-party agreements to change four-party contracts. We have a management group that is more interested in their own security than the security of the airline or the employees that make it run. We have a management group that tries to control the people doing the job, with their job. We have a management group that openly pits groups of employees against each other, using the distraction and ill-will to their advantage.
AMR is only one of the legacy carriers that is stuck in 1980s. We haven't made a serious change in our business plan or our management structure in years. That is suicide right now, when high oil prices, serious LLC competition and competition from other legacy carriers that are operating at lower costs due to their bankruptcy protections.
The venom that was prevalent on Eaglelounge needs to be re-directed into ideas that could change AA/AE into a management-lean, performance oriented airline, that can not only survive in the current market, but could be named as the only other airline, besides Southwest, that is making a profit in 2006.
When we can get rid of the "VP of the Size of Water Bottles", along with it's $150,000 salary and bonuses, stock options and health insurance that isn't available to pilots, then we can compete.
Let the Board at APA and the MEC at ALPA handle relations between the pilot groups. While it may have been theraputic to vent for a while behind the anonymity of an internet site, it is counter-productive.
Hence, my attempt at a more productive rant...
