What are the CRJ lines at Eagle like out of ORD?

With a 25 aircraft fleet, I'd assume a new-hire would have better QOL on the ERJ, but looking for what life is like in the CRJ.

Hypothetically speaking, if I requested ORD and then was offered ERJ or CRJ and chose the CRJ...what would I be getting myself into? I would be a commuter from the east coast.

Many thanks!

they suck and are getting suckier. they are shifting more a/c to DFW and we are down to 8, i believe. the people are great, but the sequences really suck. we goto (from ORD):

CLE, YHZ, CMH, XNA, LIT, BNA, COS, OMA, ICT, OKC, TUL, NAS, IND, DTW, ATL, FPO, MEM

from XNA you will connect to DFW or LAX.

a typical sequence:

they still suck. you would simply kill for sucky schedules. for example: our COS overnight is almost always a reduced rest overnight (a direct violation of the whitlow letter).

That's the first thing I thought when I saw that too.....I would spend my entire trip going through CMH for that

Hey KITT, post some of our lines on here....then they can see what truly sucky schedules look like.....show them the 17 credit hour.....uncommutable on both end, 4 day trips......make sure it has a 26 hour sit somewhere too

come to eagle then if you like it so much. they were much better before. now they suck.

Here is an example of one of our winners...please note the 2 leg Day 3 and the 6 leg Day 4. Also, please elaborate on how that Eagle 700 trip "sucks" and how they used to be "much better before".

I thought ALPA 'protected' you from stuff like that ;-)

I guarantee if a SKYW pilot posted this, a bunch of renobs here would scream 'that's why you need ALPA!'

...sorry, couldn't resist

Unfortunately for us, that paring and many like them are built within the confines of the CBA. ARW ALPA has had volunteers tweak the parings and lines to improve productivity and commutability but ATW has said repeatedly those changes would be "too expensive". Evidently attrition, increased sick calls, and destroyed morale within the pilot group is cheaper.

Anybody that says ALPA would "protect" anybody from their company building crappy schedules is either naive or not being completely honest. If it ain't in the CBA, and the company doesn't feel like being benovelent, you ain't getting it. All things considered, I'd rather rely on negotiated criteria than the company's charity. Just something else to work on the next go-round...

so for a guy that just got stuck on the CRJ.... is life as bad as many make it out to be here at eagle? Missed the EMB by 2 spots!

understood.

It's just funny to me because anytime anything 'bad' happens here at SKYW the usual flag-wavers love to proclaim 'that is why we need ALPA here NOW!'

ALPA is just another way of asking/bargaining for things from management. what matters most is what you end up with in the end in terms of pay, QOL, company strength, schedules, and on and on. how you ask for it or whom you pay to ask on your behalf, it seems, is not as important as the results you are able to obtain, be it through ALPA, SAPA, the National Organization for Left-Handed Yo-Yo Artists, or whomever.

the EMB is no better, their schedules suck as bad too. getting "stuck" on the CRJ isn't so bad. the schedules certainly do suck, but the crews and the plane is very nice (when it works). the smaller fleets usually mean a quieter time on reserve when adequately staffed (hahahaha like thats going to happen).

what you fail to realize is the short staffing and junior man that comes at the end of the trip. don't you guys at AWAC have daily rigs and trip rigs that will cover the 2 leg days? we've got them too:

I think no matter what regional you're at... the schedules suck. Some more than others, but none the less... they all are pretty bad!

We are covered here at AWAC for the short days....min day of 3 hours (that can be waived under certain circumstances).....I think the thing we were looking at the most was the fact that your trips were actually commutable.....we just don't have trips that are built like that.....I think Boiler said it, but we had people build much nicer schedules, but when they showed them to the company they decided they would cost too much....even though we would all have been used much more efficiently...no more 3.5 hour sits at the airport, 27 hour overnights.....they actually told us it was cheaper for us to sit around (either at the airport or hotel) then have us flying and being more efficient

amen brutha!

sorry to hear about the AWAC schedules. is it mostly a PHL thing or do the ORF schedules suck too?
