I remember this guy from back when I was taking lessons at that school about 2 years ago... he had just started instructing and had pretty low time.

The maintenance at MVP is horribly bad, the instructors complained about the Duchess constantly, and I personally know one mechanic who refused to work on their airplanes because he didn't want the liability, since they never fixed anything. I also had one instructor tell me to stay as far away from them as I could.

Sad story, but it sounded like maintenence wasn't the issue, he just rolled it on a sim. engine out takeoff.

McMillan said her prayers are with the pilot's family but said she also lost someone special to her in the crash -- her parrot, Polly.

Human life...Parrot....human life....Parrot....

Parrot!
Well, when you have a Parrot that uses the lourde's name in vein, you gotta expect things like that to happen...even if taking it out with the nearest, most convenient tool for the task, requires sacrificing an airplane. when you gotta go, you gotta go.

Do a search on the Queen Air from westpoint va that lost an engine from about 8,000 feet and VMC'd into the porch of a house where a preacher was rocking on his rocking chair as he watched his grandchildren playing on the front lawn. The kids and the neighbors made it out without a scratch...but the preacher got a queen air on the head. That's a pretty strong point to make...and it sucks for the jumpers, that they happened to be more convenient than that fuel truck that was few miles up the road.

When I used to live in Wichita Falls TX, a T-38 had a catastrophic engine failure, severing hydraulics lines while over the city. IP and student punched out, but the T-38 crashed into an apartment complex. No residents were injured, however 2 Jehovahs Witnesses missionaries going around were killed

I can see the big guy saying it now..."There's never a cement truck around, when you need one!"

Hmm, long time ago I knew a girl that lived in Conroe. Real heartless b-otch, maybe this plane smashed into her house and took her out.

One can only hope. Peace be with the pilot

I remember that crash. I was getting water for my dog when I heard the explosion about 4 miles away.
