I'd do the prep and checkride in the RG. Learning to fly isn't cheap, ever. Spend the extra money to not have to worry about two sets of systems, two sets of V speeds, etc. Make it easy on yourself.

I'm not sure if thats great insight or not, but its what I'd do in your shoes.
