I'd be calling the kettle black, if I said I never had a drink and drove a car...or if I said I never sped on city street...not casting stones at a glass house, here is a news article in the local MKE news...be careful out there!

Sad story, one was Riddle too.

Though what's a Cessna 1900? Is that a Citation X on steroids?

It's a lot like the Beechcraft Citation.

There are enough problems for pilots right now as it is. I guess you also have to worry about getting hit by drunk teenagers when your hopping a ride to the hotel.

deftone, your guess is wrong. You HAVE to worry about it. The drive to and from the airport has been, is and will be the most dangerous part of the trip. I wish they had the death penalty for drunk drivers. On a 5 mile stretch of freeway near my house about 10 people have died in the last 6 month by drunk drivers: a pickup truck going the wrong way killed four plus the drunk, a car got hit killing 3, a motorcycle rider got killed by a drunk and just the past week a police detective got killed when hit head on by a drunk going the wrong way. In my eyes it's murder first degree.
My sympathies for the surviving families and well wishes for the injured

A few years ago an AA crew was killed in an accident on the way to the airport in Philadelphia.
I'd have to agree that the ride in the van to and from the hotel is the most dangerous part of the trip. I remember some particularly frightening rides in Montreal. There were also two incidents where the van driver fell asleep at the wheel and went into the opposite lane.
I'm pretty sure management isn't going to agree to hazard pay on this issue...

I thought that's what I said.

I've always told people, after being asked if I think flying is dangerous, that pulling out of your driveway in the morning to go to work carries a lot more risk than getting in an airplane.

YES, even if it is a Jetstream.:D

 I don't drink anyway, but I've certainly never tried to operate a car after drinking. Is there anything less responsible the average American can do?

I think if you kill someone with a car while drunk, the death penalty should automatically come into play. Hey, if you're willing to drive a car after drinking, you obviously don't give a dam_ about your own hide anyway...why should the rest of us?

Scarist ride to the hotel-Brindisi, Italy. Funniest ride-Rome, Italy to the Hilton.

Most "exciting" place to ride to and from hotel to aiport; Cairo, Egypt. Runner up; Jeddah, KSA.

In those places, I've found that all you can do is relax and resign yourself to whatever fate awaits you, and take on a positive, glass-is-half-full attitude; that is, tell yourself it must be "driving skills" that prevents EVERY car there from crashing, because at first it seems like they all should.

Hey, when we're up front in an airplane dodging and weaving and bumping around CBs at night with lightning flashing all around, it's the same attitude the pax in back with no control over their own fates have to adopt, right?
