When an airline application asks for your driving history of violations and fines etc. do they want every thing from when you were 16 years old (even if that was 20 years ago, or anything that is currently on your driving record (last three years) When I try to get a copy of my driving record it only contains the last three years.

You answered your own question. They can only go back as far as the state records show, for all the states you have resided in for that time frame. You would be the only one supplying other than 3 years of past history. Be careful though, should there be criminal records attached, such as a DUI or worse, you would need to be up front about that, so be honest with yourself and do the right thing.. consult with a AIR, Inc., counselor..., but I'm digressing for the benefit of those who need to know!

Negative. I checked my state MVR which was clean (7 years), and then checked an online site and paid $15.00 and guess what. Every ticket that I had gotten in that state was listed. Those happened 10+ years ago.

There is also a record kept by the state in which speeding tickets may or may not be recorded, but probably not if they did not involve at least a serious misdemeanor. And there is a local database in which all your stuff is catalougued, even parking tickets.

The real question is- what information can the airline get a hold of?

Answer- try a background search company, and what they can pull will probably be similar if not exactly what an airline can conjure up on you.

What I was told at XJT a few weeks ago(they use the exact same people as CAL) that everything shows up even if it was expunged, you were a minor, or any of the other number of outcomes. Speeding tickets, parking tickets, or anything else. They told us a really crazy story that one guy didnt want to put down and when he did, nobody could believe it. Ive always figured its better to disclose and have them say they didnt find anything than to not disclose and have them find stuff and get you for lying.
