OK..........So, here I am in Alaska flying little f*ckin' spam cans around. Don't get me wrong, I definately enjoy all my passengers and some of the experiences I've had...BUT, all in one weekend I have found out that my first student has been hired with NWAirlink flying CRJs, and my best friend has been hired by Mesa flying ?????......I can't land a freakin' job because I can't get my ATP beacuse the company I work for doesn't fly to destinations more than 23 miles away.......Christ, I have 2000 hours but yet I can't get my ATP....WTF????

Man am i glad to see someone other than me hits the bottle every once in a while...

Hey i read that if you have a question you can see then answer at the botom of a (insert generic beer brand here) can. If you don't see it after the first one, look again, but u can'T pour out the beer(It ruins it's magical hopps powers). If this doesn't work after 12cans, don't panic, go straight to the keg(you've got a class-1A emergency), when thats empty you'll see something!
GOOD LUCK!
Godspeed

Also, step away from the beer long enough to realize the FAA doesn't care how far away your destination is away from departure to count as X-Country time FOR YOUR ATP! Better retally those totals....

I don't understand what the above post is implying.

For part 135 they don't, but ATP they do.

Am I missing something?

not being a smart-ass but mesa or airlink do not require an atp. I just got hired at both in the last week with 2200TT. So have your buddy walk one in at airlink, because i know for a fact they don't like outsiders they like internal recomendation letters.

What does your company have to do with you not getting an ATP? All it takes is a checkride if you meet the minimums. Go get some prep from a flight school and take the checkride!

rchcfi,

You do not need your ATP to be hired by a regional. I have been hired by two regionals in the past year with only a commercial certificate. The key is to use your network to get an internal recommendation and then prepare for the interview.
