Any Designated Pilot Examiners and/or CFI's willing to offer some clarification?

Currently filling out the application for DPE/CIRE and I'm getting somewhat conflicting info on something.

For CIRE under the Flight Instructor flight time one source says I need 250 hours as a CFI working with folks working towards their "COMMERCIAL and/or INSTRUMENT rating." Got that no problem.

But another source says I need 250 hours just as an "instrument flight instructor." Worded that way I'm a little short of the 250.

I don't want to submit the app not knowing.
Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

Here are the requirements for the various DE privileges.

Among other requirements (PIC time, Certificates, Ratings), you must have also logged the following time as a CFI, CFII or MEI.

In order to apply for the privileges to conduct an exam for following ratings/certificates, you must have:

Private pilot airplane exam:
500 in airplanes ( as CFI)
100 in class (as CFI)

Commercial/Airplane/Instrument:
500 in airplanes (as CFI)
100 in class of airplane (as CFI)
250 instrument flight instruction time including 200 in airplanes (as CFI)

ATP Airplane (Fixed Wing):
250 in airplanes (as CFI)
100 in class of airplane (as CFI)
250 instrument flight instruction time, including 200 in airplanes (as CFI)
150 preparing pilots for Commercial Pilot or ATP with airplane category or type rating or instrument-
airplane rating (as CFI)

I thought about doing that a while ago, but after talking to a couple of DPEs I decided not to. Seems it's a lot of work and effort and you get taxed right out of most of your profits.

You're considered self employed which opens up all kinds of taxes such as double Social Security (15% of all payment received).

Let's say you get $400 for a checkride. You just lost $60 to social security. Now you've made $340. Now take off all your other taxes and you're looking at just under $300 for 5 hours of work. That's $60 and hour. If you're getting RJ FO pay it's better, but anything else you're better off picking up OT. And that's if you can get $400 for a checkride. It's much less in the midwest.

All Captain time at a regional is counted as CFI time for the purposes of the requirements.
