Any Designated Pilot Examiners and/or CFI's willing to offer some clarification?

Currently filling out the application for DPE/CIRE and I'm getting somewhat conflicting info on something.

For CIRE under the Flight Instructor flight time one source says I need 250 hours as a CFI working with folks working towards their "COMMERCIAL and/or INSTRUMENT rating." Got that no problem.

But another source says I need 250 hours just as an "instrument flight instructor." Worded that way I'm a little short of the 250.

I don't want to submit the app not knowing.
Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

just put down 250, they aren't going to check. they have so many DPE's out there they'll just put your app in the pile with 5000 other ones.

I am a PPE on the DC-3, so I am on the distribution list for the DPE's at the DTW FSDO. We had a DPE retire here, they are not going to replace him because there are so few ratings being given. The remaining DPE's have been in their positions for decades.
