American Airlines Named a 'Top 100 Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Trans-sexual Employer'
03.03.05

American Airlines, the world's largest airline, has been named as one of the top 100 employers of Lesbians and Gays in the United Kingdom by Stonewall, a leading UK-based LGBT rights organization. American tied for the number 14 ranking, making it the highest ranked airline in the Top 100 Survey and the only U.S. airline on the list.

American Airlines also continues to earn recognition for its employment and citizenship practices in the United States. For the past three years, American has earned the distinction of being the only airline to score a perfect 100 in the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Corporate Equality Index for U.S. employers.

"American Airlines earning placement on Stonewall's distinguished list of top employers is indeed an honor, as was being the top-ranked airline on this side of the Atlantic for the past three years in HRC's Corporate Equality Index," said Sharyn Holley, Managing Director-Diversity Strategies and Corporate Citizenship. "We have worked hard to ensure that American Airlines provides a safe, welcoming workplace for all employees. Stonewall's recognition is a further affirmation that our corporate Turnaround Plan is having a real impact in the workplace and the marketplace."

American has approximately 1,200 employees throughout the UK. American serves three UK cities and many other destinations throughout Europe from seven U.S. gateway cities. In May, American begins new service to Ireland, with non-stop flights between Boston and Shannon, and between Chicago and Dublin.

The Stonewall index ranks each organization's employment policies, employee benefits, employee involvement, corporate diversity practices, and sponsorships. Yeah, did you notice the subject has hairy legs?

Love American style......

Time for a cheap joke:

- What do you do if you drop your wallet in Key West?

-Kick it to Marathon!

CAUTION: Seinfeld reference

Not that there's anything wrong with that.....
