I've read the LOA on domicile transfers for guys already on the property. I'm wondering if the company is actually posting vacancies regularly for the hot places like DAL and PBI? I didn't see a requirement in the language for them to place a certain percentage of pilots at any one base so I'm wondering if there are any vancancies available?

It is happening on a very limited basis so far, but this LOA is brand new. Recently, there were 2 G200 sic's that transferred out of CMH. One of them was awarded LAX and the other DAL. I believe this was the first sic vacancy bid awarded since this LOA went into effect.

Absolutely true that winning a good contract is only half the battle. The pilots have to be diligent about making the company follow the CBA. Compliance has to be everyone's job. The first step is to learn the contract so that one knows if/when the rules are broken. The next step is to stand your ground. Yes, 1108 leaders are there to help, but the pilots themselves are the union and as such have to stay informed and involved.

What do the NJ pilots think of the Build On Success Slate? Looks impressive to me. Voting on the bylaws, and for a leadership council....important issues on the table for sure. I do hope that lots of NJ families are talking it over. I can assure you my family is.

Not surprising - your husband would be pissed if you thought it was less than impressive.

That said, I'm sure they will be voted in, and I hope they can continue what the SU slate has started. I've always been curious why a captain would be the First Officers' Rep, though. Seems contradictory.

I would hope that all the NJ pilots would be suitably impressed with the Build On Success Slate. The combined talents and volunteerism of the group has earned that recognition. All 5 pilots are captains and much thought went into the division of duties, I'm sure.

1108 leadership has consistently told the pilots that they control their own destiny. As critical as good leadership is, it can't be successful unless the pilots themselves remain engaged. If the NJ pilots remain informed and involved, I have no doubt the B.O.S.S. slate will continue to lead them confidently forward in the tradition of SU.

The grass roots movement Strong Union began a few years ago; some of the 5 were FOs at that time and were leaders of their group. That said, all that is required to represent a group--any group--is a complete understanding of the issues that are important to them, a dedication to working on those issues, and the experience/ability to lead others.
