Thanks ahead of time!

Does anyone know what the pilot requirements for West Air Inc? How do get your foot in the door? I understand they are a Fedex feeder route and they fly Caravans. What is the scheduling like? Starting pay? As much information I can get about this company. I had a buddy of mine that worked for them but, lost touch with him 2 years ago. Thanks for the information.

2,000 total, prior 135 good, but not necessary :)

Thanks Sir!

Do you have additional information besides hour requirements?

company address?
website?
equipment they fly?
starting pay?
how to get your foot in the door?
recommendation needed from the inside?
Are they based in Ontario?
Do I just walk to the gate and hand my resume?
Scheduling? What is a typical week like?

Since 135 operation is required or needed. Do you recommend flying for Ameriflight? My goal is to fly for a cargo company like Evergreen, UPS, Fedex. I don't mind flying boxes at night. I understand that having 135 experience a must.

Thanks again!

Most of the answers to your questions can be found at the website.
Caravans are the airplanes they fly. To get your foot in the door, send a resume to the Chief Pilot...recommendations help out a lot, but aren't always necessary. West Air is HQ'd in Fresno, but has hubs in OAK, SMF, ONT, SAN and LAS.
A typical work week is show at the outstation Monday afternoon, overnight at a hub, fly back to the outstation and hang there until the early evening. This usually goes on until Friday or Saturday morning. Your milage may vary. Hotels are provided at both ends if you are a reserve grunt, one end if you hold a line.
If you live in SoCal, or near ONT..the better, as you will usually be flying out of ONT as a reserve guy anyway.

Pay is decent for a job where you only fly a couple of hours per day. Airplanes are nicely equipped and the MX is good.

As for 135 requirements, West Air likes to see it because most pilots with some background in the 135 world have solid instrument skills.
The last few guys West Air hired were CFI's, so it is something they like to see, but not etched in stone.

PM if you have any questions.

If you want to get on with a company like Federal Express or UPS, you are much better of going to Amflight and getting in the twin turbine epuipment as fast as possible, single engine turbine won't help you one bit at the FedEx interview.

Thank you for all the information. It is a great help!
Have an awesome week!

Feeders aint a bad lifestyle.

agreed, but if hes got his sights set on FedEx/UPS majors, then caravan time alone aint gonna get him there :(
