Does anyone know of a rental car company that will rent out to a 20 year old? I need a rental car to get to the airport, and none will rent to me being 20, that I can find. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Most will rent to you if you are under 25, but they will charge you an underage fee. I've had the best luck with ENTERPRISE. I think they have the lowest underage fee..... like around $10.

Let me know if you find any that have a better deal than Enterprise.

Just called enterpise they won't rent to me. You have to be 21, no exceptions, so she said.:(

Before I got "old" I used to rent from "mom & pop" type places, or just local places. I could usually find one in every major city. Where are you going? Maybe I can help.

I was in the same boat a few years back, but they didn't even offer an under-age fee. If you weren't 25, you weren't getting a car period. (Nevermind that I just pulled up in a rented $250,000 airplane. Argh.)

When someone ran a red light into me, I was out of luck. I ended up renting U-Haul's pick-up truck to get me to and from school. (No public transit where I was, unfortunately.) At $20 a day and $0.40 a mile it was a little expensive, but they'd rent to anyone over 18. Something to check into if you get in a pinch.

Thanks for reminding me about rent a wreck. I rented from them in Texas when I was 18 with that underage fee. But I'm in Utah right now, and the focker in SLC won't rent to me below 21. This **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ing sucks balls.

In my experience, many FBO's that rent cars will look the other way about your age. I've never had a problem getting a car at VNY - even if the FBO is using Hertz to rent to me.

I worked Customer Service at an FBO, and i never looked at peoples age when renting cars. TO be honest, i couldnt have cared less. If someone had been less than the min. age, i would have looked the other way. Im only 19, and i hope some day someone would do the same for me.

I work at an FBO and we had a 20 year old reant a car from Alamo . He had a special number that Alamo had given him that allowed him to rent a car even being only 20. So try different companies ,call to the main branch to see what they say. Its seems like all rental car agents hate there life and try to make everyone a a living hell. Try going up the ladder to someone in higher power and see what they say.

I always rent from FBO's. I have been since I sarted flying charter at 19. I have never had one turn me down. I think they feel the same way most have stated, who cares? To this day I can't make a reservation online because I am still pre-25 but nobody cares since I pull up single pilot in a four-and-half million dollar jet and buy some gas from them. The only problem you will have is if you talk directly to the company. On a side note though, ALWAYS TAKE THE INSURANCE! Even if your personal insurance will cover you. Yeah, it's kind of expensive, but it is worth it if you have an accident! I used to fly with a guy that trashed a rental in an accident. He called the company, they brought him another car and never heard another word out of it.

Look at it this way though, there are worse problems to have!!!

Good luck

Kevin
