It's always a large jet. I'm sitting up front in the cockpit. I can't tell you if I'm in the right or left seat, but I'm up in the cockpit as part of the crew. We are making a takeoff, but this is nothing ordinary. We are attempting to get this large jet in the air off a small street. Houses, trees, and wires all around. The takeoff roll is downright frightening. Pushed back in the seat with trees, cars houses fly past the windows at over 100kts. We lift off, and there is complete panic. There is nowhere to go. After being airborne for only a few seconds, there are wires approaching and they are unavoidable. We hit the wires. There is a loud sound then I wake up.

It all seems so real. It really is kind of scary.

My flying dreams are never good ones. Usually I end up getting busted (airspace, regs, etc...). I'll agree with you on the real feeling. Some times I have to think about it for a minute or two after I wake up just to make sure I didn't really do something stupid.

IFR!! in a Venturi Tube Equiped 172 withn Min. Radios & Equipment!!! Wait that was Real!!!

When I was younger, I used to dream that I was flying and kept getting tangled up in power lines. I had this dream at least once a week for years. Funny thing though...once I started taking flying lessons, the dream went away. I haven't had it in over 15 years.

All the time, and very close to yours, except it's usually landing instead of T/O. The jet is slow, and I'm flying around and through a big city (this all started pre-9/11, no weird associations there.) Dodging buildings, people, all sorts of city objects. Then upon landing, I have to use my feet like Fred Flintstone to bring the jet to a stop.

More of a nightmare really-

I dream I am a GIV/V pilot (I know, it's horrible already) and every morning I get dressed, remembering to put a sock or two in my underwear, and go out to the airport where I stand around looking down on everyone else (but make sure they know I fly Gulfstreams). I haven't hand flown for years, mainly because I'm too important to bother with it but also because my large belly doesn't allow me to hold the yoke properly........

I then wake up and thank the good Lord I'm really a Falcon pilot, I don't need to pad my underwear, and people actually like me. Phew!:D

I watched the air disaster episode of one of the major plane crashes (lockerbie maybe??) Anyway during the explosion the cockpit detached from the fuselage and I fall from 34,0000 whilst trying to still control the decent using the controls.

The controls have absolutely no feeling but i'm still fighting them like its no tommorow.

Man that dream had me sweating bullets :) Glad I only had it once.

I often had (haven't had it in a while) the exact same dream as yours. The airplane varies from dream to dream, but the street is always the one I grew up on, which you would be hard pressed to take any airplane off from.

Some other recurring dreams I have is one where I'm playing basketball and I have my hands in my pockets (it must be cold or something), someone throws me the ball, I can't remove my hands from my pockets, and the ball hits me in the chest. The other one takes place in college near the end of the semester. I have apparently forgot about a class I was enrolled (usually math), and have to take a test that I know absolutely nothing about. I think these dreams are all pretty much the same dream, just a different setting. Truck drivers probably have dreams about jack-knifeng an 80' rig into an impossibly small area.
