Yes you do. I fly the BOS/JFK BDA a lot at Jetblue. You need HF

this comes up every few months, do a search and you'll find that you DO need HF unless you are going VFR.

Maybe a nautical chart. Even then SSband. Absolutely need HF! VHF 180nm (FIR) from Bermuda.
