Thanks for the replies. I was talking to a friend tonight about this very subject. Since he's a pilot, he may not be the best resource ;) . He decided to become his own boss in investing money after his UAL stock went in the crapper. He went a step further and said a company may not be doing that well (e.g., dotcom businesses) but people still were willing to pay a big price. While an established company may be doing well and the stock stays flat. He pretty much thought stocks are a socially accepted method of gambling. Bottom line it is a way of life and that's the way the game is played.
Guess I look as investments as something that should be more tangible like property or investing in a company in hopes of getting some type of return such as profit sharing.
Will look into some of the books that some of the previous posters have recommended. Happy hunting.

Instead of doing IRA's last year, I bought two NFA registered machineguns. I paid 2,695 for a brand new vector uzi and it doubled in value in less than a month. I dropped 4,695 into into a vector mini uzi and it went up a grand while I waited for the paperwork to go through. Now I see WTB adds for mini uzi's all the time...I want to call them guys up and ask them how it feels to want.

I think this year, I'm going to invest 5,800 bucks in an NFA registered Armalite AR-18.

In 20 years, when I can't hold that sh!t up to shoot, you can pay my investment back to me times about 5, 7, or 20, since no new serial numbers could be added to the BATF registry since the GOPA was passed may 15, 1986.

Let those that don't want any, have memories of having none.

My recommendation is to go to Vegas, baby, VEGAAS!!
Your better off losing your money to some tool behind the table than playing the stock market.
just my opinion
