I have to say "I'm shocked!!"

This is probably one of the most useful aviation sites on the web and it's FREE to help us learn more about aviation, help us with the interview process which hopefully will be gearing up in the near future, and a resource we cannot see just "vanish" into the web vacuum.

Let's ALL show Mark our appreciate for maintaining this resource for us at HIS own expense, and pitch in a "dime" for his efforts.

In viewing the Donor List it appears that not many have shown their support to keeping this resource alive.

Take five minutes of your time and click the Fundraiser/PayPal link on the top left of your screen and show your support and how valuable this web resource is to YOU.

Think for a moment of what's available in this wealth of data at your fingertips if it were to go away. How much do you pay for magazine subscriptions, aviation related goods from your favorite aviation store/fbo, or even a one hour rental to go fly and be free for an hour. What is an hour worth of your time researching this site worth to you? It's priceless. I too am awaiting the interview process and this site is more valuable than Air Inc. and the other VERY expensive resources. Do you want to depend/require Air Inc.? Think about it, help Mark HELP US and use your credit card, check, whatever, and throw a SMALL donation to keeping this site alive!

Thank you! I had to get that off my chest! Mark is so nice doing this for us when he is raising a family and providing this site out of generosity and to see no one donating and "using" him for this resource is just not right!

Now donate!!! Show your spirit and thanks to Mark for the years he has provided this site!

Not that I care for any "publicity", but I have made two donations since this lastet donation "drive" was inititated, and I noticed my username is not among those listed, although I have donated enough to be a "Gold Wing Donor".

So, I would suspect that there are more donors than the list would make it appear. Maybe it has to do with how often that list is updated.

Either way, I agree this is a valuable resource, and should be supported by all those who use it. Count me as one of those who supports this site both by my monetary contributions and my posts.....which may or may not prove valuable.;)

The donor list doesn't appear to be up to date. I suggested to Mark that he advertise the drive more blatantly, perhaps with a progress meter like he did last time. I have received just one PM with the solicitation, and I didn't notice the fundraiser link in the upper left corner 'til just recently. We raised $5000 two years ago with just a couple of thousand members. Now there are 10,000 users here. I hope that a large percentage of those will be willing to donate something.

Yeah, no kidding! If I'm going to be shamed into donating, I at least want some credit for it! :D

Seriously, this is a great forum, and I'm happy to make a contribution. Super job, guys!

I must say that I was planning on donating, but money is a little tight right now so i was delying it.

This thread made me realize that it's free and i am willing to pay a bit for it, just to show my appreciation, cn't afford to go too much right now, but yu will have a bit from me

keep up the good job!

Yeah, I should be in the Gold Wing level, but no listing for me. Maybe I should have put my flightinfo handle in the message field. So, Mark, njcapt is aka: Kevin Johaningsmeir, happy donator of $51 to his favorite forum.

Time for others to step up to the plate.

Probably a lot more guys like me who can't read directions (by putting the username in the memo) and just clicked on the paypal button. Personally I think $50 is a little steep for what I use and get out of this forum but I was glad to pitch in $15 and think everyone should give a few $.

time

Give me time guys....I am out on a trip and have been battling a computer virus on my laptop.......darn thing shut down my computer everytime I log online! I will get the list updated as soon as I get back this wed.

Thank you to all who have donated.

Mark

I agree with a progress meter. Those are alwalys motivating. Does anyone know how much money it takes to keep up a board this size?

I donated along with many others a couple of years ago, I am sure that non are on the list. Personally I really don't care about the list, the only one who is pissed happens to be my wife, not about the money but the time I have spent here. In order for this not to be like a church( only 10% of most congregations give) I will let the 8000 other members have their chance to contribute.

As much time as I spend on here, when I got the initial E-Mail from Mark, I didn't hesitate to send $50. Even on 1st year FO pay! No food this week.....

Lets keep this thing going for everyone, or I may have to go out and get a life....

This place is GREAT. I only had the chance to donate $25 this time, but look forward to helping all fellow aviators out in the future when I am employed shortly. 22 Oct. start with World. Lots of great info on these pages.

If you haven't seen my name on the list, there is a reason.

Money is scarce.

That said, I hope to have some available in the next few weeks, when I get a little more government cheese and take care of a recording session in NYC, where I will spend a large part of it on a corporate narration demo.

I like this site a lot, and I encourage everyone to donate what they can.

Ahh, you must be one of the 3 million who lost their job since Bush took the office...But nevermind, at least your better off now, than during the Clinton years.

Ah, I hadn't anticipated this, but a hearty THANK YOU to you, sir.

I AM better off than I was during the Clinton years. Let me tell you why.

During the Clinton years, I had long, as in several years, periods of unemployment. When I did find work, I found that I had little hope for advancement, and even less input to the benefit of myself or my customers. In spite of great odds, I pursued my dream of working as a professional pilot. Why? Because I had already concluded that Clinton was going to be the LAST liberal candidate for whom I would vote, and unlike my previous malaise of hopelessness that I had felt for so many years as a liberal, I decided that I, as a rugged individual, would be the source of success in my life, with God's help. I realized that I could expect little in the way of hope from my government, such as it was under Clinton. If you need to understand the hopelessness I felt as a liberal living under the Clinton administration, take a look at Michael Moore's book. It is a fascinating account of a socialist raised to the exponent of sociopath.

Now, I have a president who I know will comport himself with dignity, honoring his commitments to his wife and to our nation. I know he will continue to act expeditiously to defend us and our friends against terrorism, and will be a force for freedom in the world. I never saw these attributes under the former occupant of the oval office.

Since losing my flying job, I have redoubled my efforts to be the captain of my ship of life, rather than a weary and weakened passenger on the ship of "government as nanny". I am forming my own business, and I am the product. My voice. My attitude. My worth. My future.

Yes, my friend, although I have lost my flying job during the Bush administration, I know it is not the fault of the President. Instead, it is an encouragement to continue to follow my dreams, and be the chief architect of their design and success.

Am I better off than I was under Clinton?

In ways you cannot imagine.

Site value

I am not flying currently and do not expect to, but Flightinfo.com has been valuable to me. It has been a lifeline for me back to aviation and has given me the opportunity to be involved in aviation again, even on a limited basis. I've met some great people, I have learned a great deal, and have had a ball with our discussions.

I second Dr. Evil's comments about Air, Inc. and any other Kit Darby enterprise.

Thanks again, Mark.

Just reading the subject line, I didn't realize it was a request for donations, so my apologies if I stray from the intended topic.

I do find the site very useful, but I have been on it a lot less lately due to the relentless political and religious debates that have been plaguing the board. I would like to suggest that there be a "Religion" and "Politics" section added.

Or, keep the "General" section as it is (for "General" conversation), and add an "Aviation Chat" section, where only aviation matters are discussed.

It would certainly make reading the board a lot more efficient and less tedious if I could just skip over all of the garbage and dive right into my primary interest.......AVIATION!

Yeah, it's really frustrating when your computer reaches out and forces you to read those threads. :D

You're right, there should be a forum called, perhaps, "Pilot Lounge" where the anything-goes threads would live.

(I do wonder, though, why the people who are against off-topic threads bitch and moan about the political/religious stuff, but don't seem to have a problem with threads about Monday night football and large breasts.)
