About to buy a new flight bag until I heard something about cockpit flight kit on 190. Trying to save some dough.

Hey Lear would you mind sending me that info as well. Trying to get everything I may need put together before class. I am finding this going back to work thing is starting to get a little pricey. Good to be going back though.

On the 190 (and I'm pretty sure the rest of the east fleet) you don;t need a flight bag. Each aircraft has 2 "shipsets". Shipsets have the QRH/FOM/PH and Jepps. They are changed out/updated once a month by the company. All you have to carry with you is a flashlight and a small 3 ring blue binder (the company will give one to you).

The blue binder has bulletins for the PH and FOM (blue and green pages) and once a month Jepp update pages. You do not have to update anything in the shipsets. As bulletins are issued you place or remove them from your binder. Once a month (around the 15th) you will get a jepp update envelope. Just remove the previous months update from your binder and slip in the new packet. Thats it.

Relax. You do not need flight bags anymore. All the fleets have shipsets. You will be issued a Supplemental Binder that you keep with you for any PH, FOM, or Jepp revisions prior to the ship set swap out.

When you show up for ground school, you will be issued a paper copy of the Pilot Handbook, QRH, FOM, and Training Manual. These are for training only and go non current when you complete training.

In the meantime, if you have access to WINGS, you can go and download eLibrary, a software program that will load any manuals you want from the Electronic Library, or you can just download the PDF files on the manual you want.

Flows are now memory items at Airways. Make sure you know them for your SPV.

Welcome Back!

1st, why must I have a fleshlight on me at all times?

The two flashlights in the cockpit were removed a few years ago. All you need to have now when you come to work now is your passport, flashlight, and supplemental binder

Oh, but you missed my sickness, Captain! I have a "medical" condition, full disclosure.
