jumping on an america west flight sunday night out of honolulu i saw about 8 mesa employees hopping a ride and not one of them were dressed in standby/jumping attire.....i will say that i think 6 of them were FA's and 2 were peeeealots......the pilots were wearing jeans, sandals and baseball caps and and the FA's were just as casual....in fact one of the FA's (a guy) had his ears pierced with black corkscrew inch long horns.....they were all flashing their badges around....
now, i'm the last person to give a $hit, but seriously.........somehow they got away with it......
in fact, the irony that i saw was that america west contracts aloha gate agents for their flights and the gate agents didn't seem to notice.....
i don't even know what i'm getting at....actually i wasn't all that surprised to see mesa employees looking and acting so half a$$ed......man they pi$$ me off....

Ever think they may have tickets. You better get a girl friend or something to occupy your time buddy.

i do feel better....and answer this for me then....why if you have tickets would you be sweating and constatnly going up to the counter to see if you are going to get on?
point is......no matter who you fly for, if you are non-reving wouldn't you want to represent your company? even if you don't like who you work for? you never know who might be trying to get a ride and is sitting back watching all of this.....how hard would it be if you showed up to jump a flight dressed all casual acting like an idiot and some other pilot is dressed nice and happened to catch your name on your ID.....you have any idea how many a$$holes there are outhere (outside of flightinfo) that would love to write a letter? and in regards to a girlfriend...sorry, married...and she was riding standby as well and actually questioned me why the mesa doooooooooches were not dressed up.....get back to me while i fill up my whiskey.......

Sooo I guess you have never seen the many Mainline United and America West. Pilots and Flight attendents no to mention the Southwest people that are always nonrev/jumpseating in jeans? You must really have a lot of time to waste if you are gett'n all torqued up about that.

i do have time on my hands......and yes, we have had jumpers from mainline dress in jeans, wasn't my call to tell them otherwise....in fact i'll go ahead and rip on myself by saying that if i was in the position to say otherwise i wouldn't.....call me a hypocrite.....
thought i would point out something odd with the fact that mesa is coming into my home town and not dressing the part and got away with it....when i do get back (should be a couple of months) bank on me not letting that happen.....
i could really give a $hit about any of it....but i wouldn't be a proper flight info member if i didn't bitch about something meaningless.....

So you're saying that you were wwearing jeans too?

And what do you expect from an FA making 15k?

no numb-nuts....other pilots have jumped on my airline, while i was working, they were in jeans and they worked for mainline carriers.....and as i stated before, i wasn't all that surprised.....

Drunk Post?

( I always wear slacks and a dress shirt, tie nearby in case I need it)

PS
Had an Island Air guy on board last month... He got a ride.. Will you do the same?

i had some southwest guy jumpseating the other day. and he had his hat on sidewways with a huge t-shirt and dockmartins on, i-pod blaring rap, about 25 years old. gee i wonder how he got the job? hmmmm.. gee i wonder. captian let him on, i would of told him to take a bus, but oh well screw it.

They probably had tickets. We would have kicked them off if they were violating any kind of dress code, especially if they were jumpseating.

A word to the wise: Always jumpseat or non rev in business casual or better. Not only is it policy (read the back of the J/S form) but its just good manners. Don't be disrespectful to the people who are giving you a ride by looking trashy. You're getting a free ride...looking nice is the least you can do.

i only ever post when i'm drunk......its the only time i make sense enough to post with the rest of this crowd.....
and fly-n-hi....thanks......you said it best......thats all i was looking for......

I bet the windbreaker would look sweet with sandals.;)

808,
I don't really care how they look non reving for personal business, but there is a concern out there that Mesa will use the jumpseat or non rev travel for company business. I.E. repostioning crew members with their new Hawaii operation from the mainland.

Anybody who becomes aware of this please notify ALPA National.

I suspect

I suspect your a pilot who takes pride in his job and his appearance as my husband does when he jumps....

Is the JS comfortable on your SR71 Space Shuttle?

You guys need to find something better to do than worry about someones attire. For all you know they might have been gate agents or rampers.

And one time, at Mesa . . .

There's only one time I ever SERIOUSLY considered denying a jumpseat to an authorized jumpseater:

America West guy shows up to the plane in kakhi shorts, a hawaiian shirt, baseball cap and FLIP-FLOPS for god's sake. He wants the cockpit jumpseat . . . attitude is pretty much we're Mesa, and therefore America West's bee-yotch.

Yah, I let him ride. But what a TOOL.

It's the 5% that makes the other 95% always look bad . . . . .

Ok, jumpseater shows up with an airline ID, in a loincloth with a bone through his nose; at what point do you care about his appearance?

When he takes a piss on the flight can. That really pisses me off. ;)

Thank you for interjecting a fact -- a rarity on flightinfo.

If you want to see something interesting start counting the tatoos on all the Express carriers' FAs.................
